Candidate Thread: Brad Stevens (Boston Celtics)

My thoughts are if it’s Brad then the Celtics know by now and he won’t coach another Celtics game for obvious reasons. And since the Celtics have a game tomorrow night it would only make sense that the announcement comes tomorrow. Don’t see any scenario where any team in any sports allows a guy to coach a team once it’s been decided the guy is going to another team.

I don't know Chris, but I hear good things. Probably share a few buddies. Chris, you also hearing about an announcement tomorrow? This piece I got from a less reliable source, the news on a meeting today was a 100% reliable source.

 

My question is if there’s actually an announcement tomorrow, what would they be meeting about again today if it’s a done deal ready to be announced? And who was in the meeting?

They r simply going over renovations so there is more space for banners. Brad's only concern is whether the other banners will be dusted off so they don't make his shiny new ones look bad.

They’re accusing us for being jerks but if you’re follow Celtics twitter like I am, you’d realize our job would be a cake walk.

Good question.  Idk.  He’s not known for his recruiting skills at the highest level.  But he found/made players better at Butler. 
 

I would hope with the immediate transfer rule, it expedites any coaches chance at success.  
 

my expectations for Indiana have sunk to sadly, low levels.  
 

at this point, making the tournament sounds great.

I’m just so excited to expect good basketball again, the way IU basketball is supposed to look. I know the folks who were around during the 70s and 80s got to witness it, and now I feel like my generation (im 35) will get to witness it as well. I expect a lot out of Brad, but only because he’s a great coach and will know exactly what Indiana basketball is supposed to represent.  I dont expect us to be national title contenders right off the bat, but I’m confident Brad will get us there sooner than later. Seriously one of the most exciting times IU has had in a long time, and I’m so glad to be around to be a part of it.

It won't matter how many stars recruits have if he wins. This goes for whomever the coach is.

Brad has proven he can coach kids to play basketball and play as a team. I hope he recruits the players he wants, not just the top ranked (if he comes). But yeah, some people only see the star rankings.

My expectations would be the same regardless of who we hire tbh. Steady improvement. Be on a path to compete for BT titles in years 4 on. Consistently in the NCAA. A couple of FFs over a 10 year period would be great but 1 can be traded if we have several elite 8s and very few 1st round exits. 
 

NCAA Championships would be nice but I would love to get back to being a contender

ISP is legit guys. I know it is hard to tell these days. He is a long time guy at our site. He is far from a blowhard or attention seeker.
