He is a major name nationally and gives us instant credibility as a serious program again. He will never live up to the fantasies that this fan base is cooking up in our heads, but we know this, and will always look at where we were and how things are better again because of a guy like this. It's possible that he doesn't do well here, but at this moment, right here, right now, knowing what we know, he is without a doubt the best option. If we could see into the future, than decisions are easy. If he comes here, could anybody say this was a bad hire? Nope. This is as unanimous a decision as there will ever be in sports. He also is the one guy I think our fanbase will be pragmatic with regarding expectations. I’ve been lurking at other boards and a common theme from other fanbases is that if we don’t have big time success in a couple of years with him he’d be fired. We obviously think he’d have success here, but he could have a bumpy start and not draw the ire of the fanbase the way another coach could. I think part of the frustration other coaches have received and will again possibly receive is that we never really wanted anyone else since 2011. moyemayhem, FWHoosier84, AkronHoosier and 8 others 11

Yeah, he's trying to keep himself grounded. Whole pod wasn't that it was a done deal, just reasons why it could happen and why people are dummies for immediately dismissing it. Capt. MikeRoberts Posted March 18, 2021 Posted March 18, 2021 So to be clear, all of this is based on the notion that we have targeted him and he hasn’t said no. He then had some wishy washy answers at a press conference. Is there anything else of substance that makes people so loopy right now? Evariste Galois, T White and IU Hambone 3

A couple of our insiders are pretty certain Brad is realistic and potentially already agreed. A deal has been offered is what I’m assuming. IUrocker Posted March 18, 2021 Posted March 18, 2021 Are insiders right now still saying Brad Stevens “IS” the next IU coach? Now that it’s a new day and Brad happens to have the day off, I’m aching for some more reassurance, ha....not saying anything could happen today, but hope the sure fire comment that was bombed on us last night is still reality. Just finished the pod - Yes, that was Tate (UNC fan). I agree with Titus that it's still unlikely, but having really good feelings about it. It was nice to have a national presence defend IU fans. I get so sick and tired of the national media piling on IU fans. Let's just see what happens at Duke when Coach K retires and they miss the tourney 5 years in a row. I see the Hoosier Hysterics pod with Jay Bilas is up. I hope they bury the guy for his stupid ESPN hot takes. Edited March 18, 2021 by FWHoosier84 8bucks, Capt. Crimson, HoosierTrav and 2 others 5

FightFor6 Posted March 18, 2021 Posted March 18, 2021 The piece in this thread I find interesting is that the same person that broke Sampson detail to 0708 is who is providing it this time. How many people from the AD have been around since Sampson? I guess more continuity in the BoT so possibility there. Hard to imagine the circle of trust would expand much further than that given the delicacy of ongoing discussions. MemphisHoosier and Capt. Crimson 2
Loaded Chicken Sandwich Posted March 18, 2021 Posted March 18, 2021 I'd say we have a solid 15-20% chance at getting him. On the high side. Capt. Crimson and CSP 1 1
