That’s all I got so far. I can’t freaking get over that Wilkerson is in play here. I spent all of the early portal period digging into MM scoring guards looking to transfer up and Wilkerson and Malik Thomas were my favorites by a mile. But I just didn’t think there was any way they’d jump in hard and early on a Texas kid or a California kid, particularly with a bare bones staff. Loving me some DeVries right now. Now let’s see him close. cybergates, BtownStrength, Chris007 and 4 others 7 Quote

I like it too! He isn't afraid to get out and recruit! He made the 3-3.5 hrs trip all the way up here to see JBJ at South Adams for sectional when he was still at Luers. I took my kids up and introduced ourselves and welcomed him to our little country part of the state! Couldn't have been a nicer guy. I still have the pix somewhere on an old flip phone! Definitely. Stayed there and commuted one summer in law school. Great golf, relaxed restaurant and bar scene compared to the school year. Bloomington is awesome in the summer. Now go sell these top portals/recruits on it because they’re gonna be there all year long starting in May! Home Jersey, Chris007, thebigweave and 1 other 4 Quote
Popular Post JimmerNoe Posted April 11, 2025 Popular Post Posted April 11, 2025 A small Kenny Johnson story: I lived in Louisville for med school while he was getting fired by Pitino and caught in the scandal. I was behind him in line at an BBQ place and introduced myself, thanked him for his time at IU. He asked me to come with him to his car as he took his food out to go and had a trunk full of boxes as he was literally cleaning out his office. Handed me three different autographed pictures of Victor Oladipo and shook my hand. Gave one to my Grandpa and have two downstairs hanging in my man cave. Love this hire. He’s a great dude. jonz44 Posted April 12, 2025 Posted April 12, 2025 It's NOT about the rules, per se. It's the fact that regardless of what the rules were at any given time, these guys thumbed their noses at them. That speaks to their character more than anything. The organization they were/have been dealing with is as hypocritical and dishonest as any that's ever been. It's a damned if you do and dammed if you don't situation. Screw it, just start winning. Sent from my SM-S901U using BtownBanners mobile app Hoosier Roots 1 Quote

It's not a indication of "wanting it more" it's the opposite. It means you are too lazy to work hard enough to win by the rules, so you break them to gain advantage. Cheating at a board game, on a test at school, in your marriage, on your taxes, whatever the situation, is dishonorable. The consquences may not be equal, but the fact remains, it's dishonest. If you are ok with that, then I'm not gonna argue about it, but pretending "it was a stupid rule" justifies it, misses the point. The NCAA enforcing those stupid rules directly lead to the mess we have today. Steve Alford was suspended at one point for posing for a charity calendar that he made zero money from. It was dumb, and then we were supposed to be mad that a poor kid got bought a meal, or got a ride to campus when their parents couldn't afford to get them there? It was all dumb. Even dumber that IU put us through the last 25 years because they were too good to do it. thebigweave and jonz44 2 Quote
newcastle12 Posted April 12, 2025 Posted April 12, 2025 Isn't Bargan actually in an undefined role at this time and not necessarily an assistant? Or did I miss some news. Quote

I think by now Kenny has a relationship with everyone. Good guy, he'll be on the road chasing ball players when he's 75. He's a lifer. He used to be THE guy as a recruiter. The young new splashy guys have caught up a little. Maybe he can catch Sorber after the combine and get him to IU. We are going to see alot of the dmv/east coast action pick-up. Adams just needs to lock-up Indy Elite. That's the only reason to have him on staff. Indiana aau and introduce coach to everyone that doesn't hate him. 8bucks and cybergates 2 Quote
