  1. I was (and am) a big fan of grunge and '90s hard rock music. It's sad that so many of the big names of that time are dead now, often by their own hand. I was confused the first time I heard Nirvana and Pearl Jam on a classic rock station. My initial response was, "WTF!? Why is this on here, it's not classic rock!?" Then I did the math... Something, something, IU basketball, something, something. (gotta stay on topic)
  2. Very nice pickup. The top transfer who will make a huge difference on the medley relay teams in addition to her individual scoring.
  3. I was struck that a JUCO player was able to get into Penn. Must've gone the JUCO route for athletic reasons rather than academic ones.
  4. Yes, that would be fantastic. That 2 hour drive sucks. Another poster said that the UofA 247 guy said the rumors weren't true. I hope he's wrong as I'd love for IU to come to AZ but I won't hold my breath.
  5. With how good the talent evaluation of the coaching staff has been, I expect we'll see plenty of times in the future where IU gets in early on a recruit then he blows up as far as rankings and/or other teams jumping in to recruit him. If the IU staff is interested, he is probably good. That also means we'll likely see more decommitments. This isn't a new thing for IU, although now the reasons are different.
  6. That's fine, I was just answering a question. I don't really have a take on the Dorn/Harris debate. Right now, neither impresses me much. In general, I'm not very excited about next basketball season. I am looking forward to football, though.
  7. For the whole season, he was 60 of 158, which is 0.380. In a 4 game stretch he went: 4/9, 6/10, 4/9, 6/15. All 40% or greater. If those are excluded, his totals become 40/115, which is 0.348.
  8. I believe they said that the 5th year would not retroactively apply to anyone already in college. Only to incoming freshmen.
  9. The comment I was replying to was talking about being unlucky if all 3 did not get to what are basically Sisley freshman year levels of production. We weren't talking about Wagler levels of production. I stand by my statement that if none can achieve that, it is a failure of coaching rather than a matter of luck. But if none turn out to be the next Wagler, I guess I would agree with unlucky. I don't expect to be lucky.
  10. If that were the case, I'm not sure "unlucky" is how I would describe it. I think I'd go with "coaching failure." Having all 3 fail to be even be a decent rotation piece would point to misses on evaluating talent/fit and/or failure to develop at least 1 of them.
  11. This is IU basketball. For me, they have become close to what IU football used to be: I expect meh until proven wrong. It looks like they're out of money. I don't think the last few roster spots will really make a difference but I would think if they just want practice players someone better than that guard they just landed would be good. How much do bad players really help in practice? It is what it is. I guess we'll see when the season begins.
  12. A minute and a half highlight reel for a player who averaged less than 1 ppg. Must have every basket he made during the season.
  13. With the current state of things, there isn't any real reason to plan long term. I agree that it's unlikely we land him.
  14. I think the idea is that they have 5 years, period. They could play every single game or 0 games during those 5 years, but once the 5 years is up they no longer have eligibility.
  15. Wow. No bueno. I'm very happy to hear that no one was killed. That's still a terrible situation, though. It's been getting more dangerous for some time now. About 25 years ago, I had a pulled on me in Yogi's parking lot. It was about an inch from my head. Scary.
  16. Better than the GOAT? Is that even possible?
  17. I'm pretty sure the clearinghouse (NIL Go or something stupid like that) has already been neutered.
  18. He tells you to trust him so you know you can. No one who has said "trust me" has ever turned out to be untrustworthy.
  19. On top of the collective bargaining agreements, professional sports leagues have the antitrust exemptions you previously mentioned which the NCAA/conferences/schools do not have. You are spot on as to why the NCAA can't implement a bunch of the rules they'd like to. The decades of claiming the athletes are just students who happen to be amateur athletes and most certainly are not employees in any way, shape, or form has really come back to bite them.
  20. He's related to Ivan Renko, right? I think a cousin, so he has that IU connection.
  21. It's Trent Green's son, Derek, who got engaged. Not Trent Green.
  22. Me too and the one I remember I don't remember very clearly. Only vague memories.
