All can be true and seems all likely even. Things like this have been happening for years. I still don’t understand…. Why make visits? When you are still in HS, with your parents etc. these are not “fun trips”.  They take time etc
so if all this exist and why Louisville,  then it has been that way from the start and zero point in making the visit.
unless… there is another way to read this and too many jumping to conclusions. I have said from the start they were the favorites. But something happened and they added visits. CAA probably said these 2 (Kansas and IU) are your options. So, goes and loves both. Says he still doesn’t want Louisville but CAA pushing. Please just take visit. if you still feel that way we understand.
I cannot imagine a world where an agent would force their clients hand. That doesn’t add up and doesn’t make sense on why any visits took place if they planned to force him there all along.
Don't agree with some things you say but I agree with all of this. Especially the agent forcing the client's hand. Doesn't the agent work FOR the client? Doesn't add up.

Maybe the agent was just reminding the family to stay the course and take the visit to UL not necessarily pushing them to commit to UL?

Maybe canceling on the U of L visit would appear unprofessional and look bad to the reputation of CAA... Just a thought.

Haha was just looking at a U of 6 board, despite their top 5 recruiting class coming in, according to one of their posters, they have 1 PG/ball handler on scholarship and a crap load of wings. Sounds like they are in for one hell of a season again as it appears despite the overall positive feelings for Payne being projected, there are still many that feel the sting of last season and not on the Payne Train at the moment.

It seems we are headed to a world where a kid get an agent and the agent brokers where the kid goes. How far are we from the size of the market determining the earning potential for a player? Don't love where this is going.

Whew. This all sounds like something that isn't really a factor but b/c it's been so quiet, is snowballing into becoming a factor because ppl want news. But what do I know? Absolutely nothing.

That's exactly what it is. People are desperate for information, so when they don't get it, they create it.

This board makes me laugh sometimes. Always trying to find reasons why recruits aren't coming. Just relax.

Would feel better if it were coming from somewhere other than Rabjohns.  He tends to paint an overly optimistic picture of things for IU, so him saying that 'Louisville currently leads' without him even visiting is not encouraging.

We'll see how it plays out, but that is simply not encouraging.  Funny thing was Ware transferred from a Nike school to IU.

Sadly we may see a time when players will be limited to what schools their agents have a relationship with.  Kansas is a big enough power broker that if the reason they did not get Mgbanko is that CAA steered him to Louisville, you could see the Jayhawks moving on from working with players represented by them.  Agents certainly have power but I don't think they want to stretch their power just yet on a true blue blood.  Indiana doesn't currently wield that kind of power.

I like how we suddenly have all this "information" about the recruitment of MM when it was said early on there would be minimal information coming out. It's almost like we forget what has happened in the very recent past.

It'll be fun to hear how things "truly" went down after he announces.

Could be.  Just my opinion, if he doesn't choose Indiana then I hope he picks Kansas.....because that would at least make sense.

This is one of the most peculiar recruitments I think I have ever seen on this board. Advising your client to turn down larger compensation packages from two massive basketball brands with strong NBA pipelines for a program that was literally the worst team in college basketball last season is extremely strange advice. I mean for Christ sake a Kansas alum was just named MVP and CMW must be one of the most well NBA connected coaches in CBB. If that doesn’t bode well for a second NBA contract I dont know what would.

I wonder if this is being driven by some sort of internal agency politics or some angle from his agent and MM is receiving some shaky advice rather than having a real conviction to go to Louisville?

They should’ve had him visit Louisville first and have him commit and be done with it.
Yeah if this was all pre-determined then no need for horse and pony show. Have other 3 schools as scheduled visits for courtesy reasons but only go to UL then commit. This whole agent business doesn't make any sense.
