Iufan71 Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Not sure all who is really wanting Cronin......definately not myself. He does get to the tourney regularly for the most part, but usually a game or two and out. Love reading all of you peoples and your sort of "insider" sources posts. Gonna be a long month to wait and find out who our next coach is. Hopefully Dolson makes the pick 100% on his own with only advice from others. Not 1 pick with satisfy every fan. People still will complain, whoever it is..please give him a chance before you start the next "Fire the coach webpage" HoosierHoopster and FortWayneHoosier 2

Iowa State has been really good for 2 years. He’s 47. That’s nice. Could make the argument even Will Wade is the better candidate on paper. Stevens with his clout and NBA/general basketball connections would be something else. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app Wade deserves more consideration. Not to put the cart before the horse or anything but I bet IF (and that's a big if) Brad Stevens is the hire, we got a shot at flipping Mullins. Dude really wanted to be a Hoosier and from all reports Woodson just failed to recruit him. Barely tried. Didn't show up to hardly any of his games, didn't return his coach's phone calls. Straight up didn't do his job. tkbbn, Chris007, SlammySammy and 2 others 5

I don’t think he can’t hack it but people’s concerns with McCollum will probably not be assuaged by an NCAAT run because their concerns have more to do with the fact he’s never been associated with a P5 program in any capacity. Popular Post LamarCheeks Posted February 23 Popular Post Posted February 23 Goodman pumping up Otzelberger in a video this week. Last week, I saw him on a YouTube video pimpin' Beard for the IU job. Wonder who it'll be next? Hard to put my finger on it, but I just don't care for that dude. I do think, however, his daughter does a pretty good job reporting on women's hoops. Younger; more likeable, lower buyout, and a higher ceiling imo. After 22 years, we know who Cronin is. He's a very good coach who will get us to the tournament consistently but it feels like the ceiling is pretty low. Otz feels like he is just about to reach his peak, and we can get him right as he's about to get there. In my opinion Otz is a guy who has proven he can do it at the high major level, but is still on an upward trajectory, while Cronin feels like he has somewhat flatlined at this point. So while maybe not as safe of a hire as Cronin, it feels like a much bigger swing, without being a big gamble. Having said all that, I just like Otz way more than I like Cronin... so basically vibes. Popular Post JSHoosier Posted February 23 Popular Post Posted February 23 Cronin would likely have a Crean-esque ceiling but with more consistency; Crean wasn't particularly consistent even at Marquette. Better than the last 8 years, low standard, but not worth the 16m buyout plus the contract he'd get. cchuntsman, JaybobHoosier, RoadRage and 7 others 10

Lol. I think this is probably the best and only argument that matters re: Cronin/Otz, and sums up how I feel. He seems like he is peaking but has maxed out his potential at ISU. He might win a title there on an amazing run a la Drew at Baylor, but in this era I really do not think ISU is a place you can be FF caliber year in and year out. Drew certainly hasn't been. Coaching matters, but eventually in the tournament, all the coaches are good and the jimmies and joes matter. If he wants to have the money and recruiting he needs to be at that level year over year, seems like we are a pretty rosy landing spot. That said, I think his chances of coming here are less than 5% Kentuckysucks, thebigweave, Ctf9 and 4 others 7
