Transfer Portal w/IU Interest
Juwan Moye replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Thinking it is one thing, expecting it is another. I’ll be happy being back in the tourney with some fun basketball along with a good recruiting class and a chance to retain the main contributors from our current roster. That alone is a massive step in the right direction. But then to your point, expectations should rise in year 3 where we’re a premium seed and a sweet 16 type season is a reasonable expectation. Edit to stay on topic: I love that every pick up we made are guys with multiple years. Means we can keep the players who pan out heading into next season which makes a massive difference. -

Depends on how "advanced" you want to go but CBB Reference shows things like BPM or WinShares: https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/ -

Osterman posted the article that was leaked a few days back, turns out that little tidbit was true. -

Didn’t Goodman tweet out something similar for Burton early yesterday only for Burton to commit later that day? I agree with you, I take Goodmans tweet to mean a commitment is imminent, likely today. -

Interesting list from Tyme, hadn’t seen Tiller mentioned. -

Go 3 for 3 just in time to get Sherrell on campus. -

I’d agree that, if by the middle of next week we have no commits, starting to worry makes sense. But given where things seem to stand, I think most of us will be surprised if that happens. -

Awesome, was looking for this. So basically people should be expecting to see initial commitments next week. Anyone dooming up to this point has just been spinning their wheels unnecessarily based on absolutely nothing. -

Would be plenty happy with Burton/Mustaf but having the potential upside of Harris, assuming we don’t have to break the bank for him, would be awesome. -

How are we “behind” exactly? I have zero clue how negative Nancie’s have takes like these when something like 50 players out of 3,000 in the portal have committed to this point. -

Saw Trilly said we’re getting Burton, can anyone confirm? edit: was a screenshot on X so not sure if it was real or photoshopped. -

Scott Dolson himself said as much. Basically “last year was a scramble but this next season we have everything in place and everyone should expect better results”. Paraphrasing a bit but when the AD makes a comment that strong we should listen. -

I’d guess, knowing absolutely nothing, that Sisley +freshmen aren’t $500k/each. That said, if the $14m number we’ve seen thrown around is true, then Burton + Estrella at $6m total makes some sense, and if you assume the freshmen + Sisley are indeed $2m, that leaves $6m to still play with. In that scenario, I’d expect the staff to pay up for either a wing or stretch 4, but probably a wing, that is in that $3m range then to “moneyball” the rest. Looking at CDVs West Virginia team is roughly what I think he’ll try to build this year, but possibly with slightly more talent (although Javon Small was a monster). -

Considering the 6’8” kid coming in who can only shoot and seemingly do little else I think this is a “yes”. -
2025-2026 IUBB Season Expectations
Juwan Moye replied to Hoosierfan2017's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Given our consistent trend of underperforming preseason projections, I like that people are sleeping on this team a bit. Hopefully coach got guys with the right type of character who believe they can compete for a B1G title regardless of what the pundits think. -

Given this team will likely have some growing pains, and will attempt a few threes, I’d expect a couple of really bad losses next year. Last year at WVU they had some big wins but also got blown out a couple of times. Fans are going to have to “trust the process” a bit for this first season IMO. Will be interesting to see how fans respond to that first bad loss. -

Being a fringe top-25 team to possibly being a bubble team seems like the most likely range of outcomes for this team. Obviously crazy things can happen to go more positive or negative but the Torvik rankings align with my own expectations heading into the season. -

We’d get a high level wing defender and, if coach actually runs some plays for him, someone who was a proven shooter prior to getting to IU and get “coached up”. -

Grok providing what I think is a reasonable projection for the upcoming year. Aligns with what the predictive metrics are suggesting as well although obviously none of this is perfect. -

Given the variability in the off-season it seems like the range of potential outcomes this year is pretty broad with the median outcome being somewhere around where the projections like Torvik have us. -

The things I REALLY liked about that, as I think this is something coach seems to have prioritized, is that he made sure guys were coming in with the right mindset. I think you made the point earlier about culture, or them playing hard, and if we actually have guys come in that have that "dog" in them, it won't matter what their previous stats say about them, they'll grow together. -

Yeah, while I understand AH's point, Federiko isn't some high-caliber talent. If coach really wanted that rim-runner, rim-protector, rebounder he should've gone all-in on Bidunga. But it doesn't seem like we did that. -

I had read somewhere that it was unlikely, can't recall where I read this or the source though sadly.
