This is my thought as well. “The guy” just happens to be someone who barely missed the tourney so we can land him now? Everything about the Devries stuff reads like an agent doing right by his client. I’m on team “mystery candidate”.

Jerry had said some time back in February that Tucker was already shopping around IIRC.

I still think the most likely story here is that Tucker is transferring, and Rabby caught wind of it, but the Tucker family didn’t want it known as they’re currently using Indianas NIL position as additional negotiation leverage against other schools to get a better offer. edit: was covering the Rabby/Tucker bit, no clue about what Rabby has said about the coach.

At the latest we should know by Monday as that’s when the portal officially opens. If we somehow don’t know by then, I’d think the most likely reason is simply that our new coach is still coaching. The wait really shouldn’t be much longer, people spinning themselves up over nothing.

From my absolutely limited vantage point: There are people like yourself, Jerry, RTZ etc who tell us what you know that I think 99%+ of this board appreciates. Then there are people like Isaac, and others, who make definitive claims that are most likely purely trolling. You’d hope that people could differentiate between the two but sadly the negative Nancie’s around here just dump you all into one because at some point people thought it was cool to be negative/contrarian/skeptical etc. Long story short: 90%+ of this thread is hot garbage, the only true value comes from people like yourself sharing what you hear and I for one appreciate it, even if it’s mainly for entertainment purposes.

I’m gonna guess Jay Wright. He was tired of the NIL nonsense but we’re gonna get him a GM and other support staff to ease his burden so he can focus more on coaching and actual recruiting vs the dealing with agents and such.

This has always been my assumption as well. Regardless of fan opinion, the administration will make sure this is done “correctly” out of respect for Woodson and what he’s meant to the basketball program over his career. It would also be a terrible look to just “cast him aside” so I agree with the administration here.
