    Coronavirus and Its Impact

All the "leaders" of this country did was use a pandemic that's killed 125K+ as rhetoric to fuel a culture war.

    Coronavirus and Its Impact

Given the medication early in the infection too, I'm shocked early treatment has a higher survival rate especially when you consider they were given azithromycin too. I saw other researchers are criticizing this study because of how it was conducted, for the reason you stated the patients were selected because they fit specific criteria.

    Coronavirus and Its Impact

On Tuesday, Texas set a record for patients hospitalized and according to Johns Hopkins they're 20 new cases per 100K per day. Yet their Lt. Governor said they've been successful, interesting definition of success.

    Florida seeing record spikes.

Arizona hospitals are struggling too. Most of the country is seeing increases in cases and we're to the point that the protests would start being reflected in the numbers.

    Coronavirus and Its Impact

Texas set a record for hospitalizations and has had to back track their plan to re-open. Arizona still setting records of their own but refusing to back track.

    Coronavirus and Its Impact

Agreed. I read that Coronaviruses cause about 20% of common colds, that leaves 80% for rhinoviruses and other groups.

    Coronavirus and Its Impact

There are a couple hundred viruses that can cause the common cold, and some of them do fall in the Coronavirus group. The rest I can agree with.

    Coronavirus and Its Impact

I live in a pretty rural area and haven't seen many people around wearing masks. I try to if I'm going to the store or something.

    IUBB GAME WATCH PARTY

2 turnovers with 6 to go in the first half. That was beautiful to watch.

    Daily MLB Banter

It looks like there will be baseball. MLB imposed a 60 game schedule after owners and MLBPA couldn't agree to terms.

    All-Time Underrated Team

I'd agree on more unknown than underrated. He was a beast his one year here but that was a long time ago.

    All-Time Underrated Team

    George McGinnis, I'm thinking.

    All-Time Underrated Team

That's the name that came to my mind as well. Definitely not the most athletic but he could flat play the game.

    Coronavirus and Its Impact

CA has seen an increase, though not as dramatic, as has TX and SC and FL. Some of it would be more testing, but they're even seeing hospitalizations increase. Still a bit early to see the impact of protests, but I won't be surprised to see numbers go up more when that's accounted for. Too early to say it's a second wave, but could be the beginning stages. I've got a friend that's a hairdresser and her daughter has asthma, and I know that scares her. Her salon is following precautions, but her daughter could get exposed anywhere and already having asthma would only make it worse.

AZ not looking good at all right now, deaths and hospitalizations have jumped sharply the last couple weeks. Saw somewhere that their daily new cases reported has increased over 200% the last 2 weeks.

    Coronavirus and Its Impact

I read that 22 starts are seeing cases spike, that's not good.

Agreed on that. Might be a couple weeks before that's really reflected though.

    Coronavirus and Its Impact

He shouldn't have spoke so confidently about South Carolina; they just reported nearly 550 new cases on Monday, the most in a single day since the pandemic started. Health officials said it's likely a combination of testing and loosening restrictions. Multiple states are seeing cases go back up, including AZ and NC; FL has had over 1,000 new cases in 6 of the last 7 days. I'd imagine a combination of more testing and restrictions loosening. Some areas of the country are seeing decreases though.

WHO also said it's not a get out of jail free card, which should be mentioned. That article does raise a good question though.

    Has Archie said anything?

Their strength coach was placed on leave after former players described a culture of systemic racism there.

    Coronavirus and Its Impact

After looking it up, other doctors criticized Raoult's results saying it was poorly designed and too small to be taken as hard evidence. France also had a study, small but double the people Raoult looked at, that showed no benefit. A Chinese study also showed HCQ had increased adverse effects, but being China in this mess I'm willing to ignore that. I saw India used it a lot as a preventative, but also saw recent study results showed it was no better than placebo used in that way. As I've said, it's something we need to be extremely cautious with.

There were small studies before this one, it was just the largest (by far) and latest not the only.

    Coronavirus and Its Impact

What studies say it works? 'So and so said they saw success' is an anecdote, that's all I've seen. None of what we have is ideal, I won't argue otherwise, but it's all we've got and it says to be extremely cautious.

    Coronavirus and Its Impact

I'd already read that article, they couldn't indepently verify the results. There are still other, granted smaller, studies showing similar results. Again, studies vs anecdotes. Our approach should be science and health driven, right now the science isn't on your side.
