    Positive news regarding coronavirus thread

This. As a country there are some things we've done well or very well, and other things we've ****ed up horribly.

Truth be told, I am too. The way she handled it would've been fought tooth and nail here and she would've been demonized by millions.

Low population density and remote island certainly was in their favor. Their Prime Minister, Ardern, let health and science guide her decisions. Led with empathy too, like she did after the shooting, emphasizing being strong but kind.

    Positive news regarding coronavirus thread

New Zealand has only one active case and no new cases in the past week. A little over 1,500 had it and just 22 died from it.

    Coronavirus and Its Impact

I've talked to a couple people who worked in medical (one current, one former) and both have said they think it was already over here spreading. So people could've had it and even died from it that are 'officially' listed as something else because we just didn't have information or knew what to look for.

    Coronavirus and Its Impact

COVID can cause blood clots, we know this, so it's entirely possible that heart attack was because of COVID. Something similar is done with the flu. Have flu and die of pneumonia counts as flu death, because flu can cause pneumonia. But hey, don't let facts stand in the way.

    Coronavirus and Its Impact

It's more likely to be higher than lower, guaranteed there are people that have had it and even died from it that didn't get tested so the figure wouldn't include them.

    Coronavirus and Its Impact

A controlled trial would be ideal and preferred, in the absence of that this is the best we've got and what we have is clear; he's not wrong on that. The data available can be clear while still being short of ideal.

Obviously the science is fake and the people conducting these studies are enemies.

    Coronavirus and Its Impact

A study of 96,000 patients across 6 continents showed that the use of either hydroxychloroquine or chloroquine had significantly increased risk of death or heart arrhythmia. It's a retrospective analysis of medical records, which we should keep in mind, but that's a large study that backs up what earlier smaller studies have shown. https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(20)31180-6/fulltext At best it has no benefit, at worst it's harmful as a treatment for COVID.

I don't have a picture of it, but another I enjoy shooting is my Marlin 336. Smooth shooter and accurate, hit bullseye with open sight from about 100 yrds straight out of the box. I added a leather sling and a scope.

I'm not big on striker fired, so many just look like a Glock copy and Glocks are ugly as all get out with loose tolerances, granted those loose tolerances improve reliability if sacrificing shooting experience.

I don't recall seeing any around, but I do like the looks of the P938 Legion from pictures I've seen. Looks like a 1911 in a micro compact size basically, so maybe that's why. No clue how good they shoot, but it may end up on the 'want' list.

I don't have any Sigs, but I've heard good things. I have a few Smith & Wessons, my 686 is a good shooter and I have the M&P Shield 9mm and M&P Bodyguard although the Bodyguard was just a spur of the moment purchase when it was on sale. So many now are striker fired Glock copies. I'm a 1911 guy myself, great trigger and well made ones are a joy to shoot.

I love it so far. Fit and finish is really nice. Expensive, Colt revolvers carry a premium, but really nice. That was one of a number of guns I want to get, an officer sized 1911 is on the list and I really want to get the new Walther PPK or PPK/S

True. Plus a mask isn't a silver bullet, nothing is, it's just one of multiple steps that might help slow the spread.

I don't have anything like that. Within the last year I did pick up the new Colt Cobra, .38 SPL revolver, haven't shot it yet but in dry fire practice the trigger is smooth with little stacking; I want to shoot it before I decide if I want to swap the rubber grips for rosewood or something.

I've got some shotguns my dad had; a mix of 12s and 20s mostly but there is a Browning A5 16 gauge. I mainly enjoy shooting rifles and handguns, I've got a Smith & Wesson 1911 that's a joy to shoot.
