I got that email too. If I got them, it’d be more of a long-term investment rather than wanting them for the upcoming season. The early season games are against crappy schools, and then many of the other games are on weekdays, so I’d rather just pay to get good seats for a few games than get season tickets and sit way up in the balcony. I just can’t make a $1,500 bet on IUBB having a good season next year.

NBA max contract money for a tv personality is insane to me, but Pat made me a fan by riding hard for IU the past two years. He’s better than the other slop espn puts out there these days.

I really hope that it’s a night game, or at least a 3:30pm game (my preferred time slot for games now that I’ll be going in person). I get that there are various TV deal issues at play that affect these things, but I’m always so jealous of the night atmospheres SEC games have. IU/OSU would go crazy as a night game.

If Big Noon has no haters then I’m dead. I’m waiting for the inevitable 12:00pm kickoff for the OSU game.

The “mental health disorder” stuff is pretty obviously just made up by his lawyers, imo, but betting that much on IUFB during that era would be pretty compelling evidence of a mental health disorder.

Definitely. To be honest, my only concern is how it affects IU, lol. If it helps (or at least doesn’t hurt), I’m all for it. If it hurts IU, no bueno. Putting that aside, something has to be done at some point. The current path can’t proceed indefinitely. And like you said, Congress is probably the only entity that could (potentially) improve things. Just gotta hope that the sponsors are ball knowers!

I’m on the waitlist, so I doubt I’ll even have the option, but season tickets just don’t seem like a good deal given the weak slate/uncertainty over the team. I’d rather take the money I’d spend on season tickets and go to the local Indy games plus a few good home ones.

As messy as the current landscape is, it’s hard to imagine the federal government of all entities making it any better. But we’ll see.

Cig’s messaging won’t resonate with everyone. Particularly with teenagers. We’ve seen what he can do with guys that it resonates with.

With the portal and Cignetti’s success in it, my interest/concern level with high school recruiting is at an all-time low. With rare exceptions, a 19 year kid isn’t going to come in and be the difference maker year 1. Of course, you always want depth and to have a stockpile of young talent you can develop, but if a kid doesn’t want to come to IU I’m not worried about it. We’re the national champs and have the best coach/staff in college football. If that doesn’t sell a kid enough to pick us over friggin Kansas, that’s fine with me.

No, we needed a bench big and guard. The problem is that we still need a bench big and guard after signing the German kid and Monden. I doubt either will contribute next season. As others have said, ideally the 3 freshmen would be guys 11-13, but it seems as if the staff is counting on them to contribute next season. That’s a risky move given that they’re good, but not top tier, prospects. Regardless, though, I prefer what the staff has done this year compared to loading up on mid major guys like last year.

Unfortunately “bleak” has been the most appropriate descriptor of IU basketball for the past decade. I like what the staff did with the top of the rotation compared with last season, but the way they’ve been filling out the rest of the roster is a big head scratcher. We received a very favorable schedule, though, so hopefully the main guys stay healthy and we can take advantage of it.

The NBA doesn’t even try to hide the fact that the lottery is rigged. There has been example after example. I’m not even a Pacers fan, but with the way Silver targeted the Pacers this season, there was zero chance he was letting the organization keep its pick.

NO getting Zion after trading AD, and then Dallas getting Flagg after trading Luka. And countless other examples. The rigging is beyond obvious. And Adam Silver is just a terrible commissioner. Teams “tank” because the draft is the only way small market teams can really build a contender. Order the draft based on record like the NFL and be done with it. No one whines about tanking in the NFL. But Adam Silver treats it like a plague that must be completely eradicated.

Lol what a loser. Although in fairness to him, he couldn’t even handle t30 minutes of BTA before 5 ended his season, so he unfortunately didn’t get the full IU defensive experience.

I’d be fine shuttering the basketball program altogether to give Cig another $15 million or however much it’d be. Firing Devries won’t do any good because the next guy won’t be any better. We’ll see what Devries cooks up in this portal. This past season was pretty predictable once we saw last year’s roster come together. We should have a good sense of what next season/his tenure outlook looks next in the next month.

IU Crean in the portal era certainly would’ve been interesting to see.

There’s a huge gap between winning a NC and losing twice in two weeks to a 15-18 Northwestern team to blow a tournament appearance. IU just can’t seem to find someone within that gap. Devries screwed up last offseason, which in turn made this past season a complete waste. Now we’re likely bringing only one player back and Devries has lost the “new coach momentum” an IU coach gets before they inevitably fizzle out.

You can suck worse than any other school in the country for 125 years and then win a title two years later if you hire the right coach. IU has had a rough 21st century but that’s increasingly irrelevant in the NIL/portal era. Devries just has no motion so it’s back to the same excuses we saw for the past two coaches.
