Offense looks good already. Defense is concerning but trying to remember how underwhelming the first game last year was. It’s brutal in the stands though, I can only imagine what it feels like on the field. Kinda disappointed that the stands have largely emptied out, but I get it.

Football in general is just way more popular of a sport than college basketball. Even if the programs were in comparable standing, I think football interest would exceed basketball. Then add in the fact that people under the age of 30 have never experienced a stable IU basketball program, and it’s not surprise at all.

Big Noon is one of the worst things to happen to college football in recent years. Cooks the best game in the conference every week while we have to sit at home and then watch the insanely awesome night atmospheres in the SEC.

They shouldn’t, but with the special rules just for them, they probably would. What a life that would be. Get to pick your schedule, lose your only two hard games, and get into the playoff. If you don’t, whine and cry while refusing to play a bowl game. Easily my least favorite program in the country. There’s no reason for any P4 school to schedule ND with the way the playoff is currently constructed.

I got the Fee Lane Parking Garage for my parking pass. Anyone know how fast it fills up on game days?

Possibly the best defense, so far. I completely see how programs like Alabama, Ohio State, etc. get mad when they don’t win 11+ games and compete for national championships. Anything less than playoff appearances every year will be disappointing to me as I’ve gotten greedy. I don’t feel too bad having that expectation, though, because I know Coach Cig and everyone else in the organization feel the exact same way.

Would’ve loved to see us give ND belt, but every top program should refuse to schedule ND until they stop receiving preferential treatment or join a conference.

Cig will do the right thing. Whatever the ‘right thing’ is will depend on facts that we’re not really privy to.

The bison is a perfect fit as a mascot for a Coach Cig football program. It doesn’t really fit as a basketball mascot, imo, but who cares. It’s sick as a football one.

I got that email too. If I got them, it’d be more of a long-term investment rather than wanting them for the upcoming season. The early season games are against crappy schools, and then many of the other games are on weekdays, so I’d rather just pay to get good seats for a few games than get season tickets and sit way up in the balcony. I just can’t make a $1,500 bet on IUBB having a good season next year.

NBA max contract money for a tv personality is insane to me, but Pat made me a fan by riding hard for IU the past two years. He’s better than the other slop espn puts out there these days.

Lol a judge gave Sorsby an injunction. I would’ve been infinitely more surprised by a judge in Lubbock County, Texas ruling against Sorsby, but if you can bet on your own team and remain eligible, what can’t you do?

I really hope that it’s a night game, or at least a 3:30pm game (my preferred time slot for games now that I’ll be going in person). I get that there are various TV deal issues at play that affect these things, but I’m always so jealous of the night atmospheres SEC games have. IU/OSU would go crazy as a night game.

If Big Noon has no haters then I’m dead. I’m waiting for the inevitable 12:00pm kickoff for the OSU game.

The “mental health disorder” stuff is pretty obviously just made up by his lawyers, imo, but betting that much on IUFB during that era would be pretty compelling evidence of a mental health disorder.

Definitely. To be honest, my only concern is how it affects IU, lol. If it helps (or at least doesn’t hurt), I’m all for it. If it hurts IU, no bueno. Putting that aside, something has to be done at some point. The current path can’t proceed indefinitely. And like you said, Congress is probably the only entity that could (potentially) improve things. Just gotta hope that the sponsors are ball knowers!

I’m on the waitlist, so I doubt I’ll even have the option, but season tickets just don’t seem like a good deal given the weak slate/uncertainty over the team. I’d rather take the money I’d spend on season tickets and go to the local Indy games plus a few good home ones.

As messy as the current landscape is, it’s hard to imagine the federal government of all entities making it any better. But we’ll see.

Cig’s messaging won’t resonate with everyone. Particularly with teenagers. We’ve seen what he can do with guys that it resonates with.

With the portal and Cignetti’s success in it, my interest/concern level with high school recruiting is at an all-time low. With rare exceptions, a 19 year kid isn’t going to come in and be the difference maker year 1. Of course, you always want depth and to have a stockpile of young talent you can develop, but if a kid doesn’t want to come to IU I’m not worried about it. We’re the national champs and have the best coach/staff in college football. If that doesn’t sell a kid enough to pick us over friggin Kansas, that’s fine with me.

No, we needed a bench big and guard. The problem is that we still need a bench big and guard after signing the German kid and Monden. I doubt either will contribute next season. As others have said, ideally the 3 freshmen would be guys 11-13, but it seems as if the staff is counting on them to contribute next season. That’s a risky move given that they’re good, but not top tier, prospects. Regardless, though, I prefer what the staff has done this year compared to loading up on mid major guys like last year.
