Tom Brady will be playing in his 14th conference championship game. That’s just nuts.

This is certainly a take. They went 48-24 last year and made the conference finals. They’re first in the East right now. Their best player is 22 years old. Their second best player, who’s averaging 26 ppg on 63% TS this year, is 24 years old. If they’re not going to be competing for a finals then almost no one in the NBA will be. -
Really sucks that we took him and missed out on Aaron Henry because of it.

Unfortunately our compliance department is a huge reason why no matter who we hire, we’re fighting an uphill battle. It’s hard to succeed when your own compliance department is more interested in catching you slipping than it is cutting you a break. -

He just needs to win. I imagine a lot of top coaches are dicks. I can’t imagine that someone like Coach K is warm and fuzzy. But if you keep missing the tournament then players aren’t going to put up with it. -

I get why people don’t want him, but is he worse than the other options we have? I don’t think IU is all that attractive of a job right now. Calipari could turn things around for us for the next hire. -
The Pacers got an extra draft pick due to this but they decided to still go through with the trade. Hope he’s ok.

They’re having a terrible year but last year they won their conference and the year before they made the elite eight. He’s not a long-term solution because he’s 61 years old, but we need someone to come in and make the job attractive again. I’m confident he’d be able to get IU turned around. He comes in, makes some tournament runs, and then retires. At that point we could go after whoever we want. I get why you guys don’t want him, but right now I honestly don’t know that we’d improve on Archie if we fired him after this year. -

Given the pandemic season I’d be shocked if Archie gets fired this year. It’d take the season really bottoming out, and even that might not be enough. If TJD leaves though we might as well fire him this year because he’ll almost certainly be getting fired after next year in that scenario. I’m all aboard the John Calipari train, though. Kentucky is tired of him. Let’s make it happen. -

In the 8 years since he won his national title, he’s made 5 sweet 16s, 4 elite eights, and 2 final fours, including a 38-1 season. It takes Archie two seasons to win that many games. I wouldn’t care if his only goal was to get guys to the NBA, I’d take those results in a heartbeat. We’ve only made 3 NCAA tournaments in that time span. . -

Heck, can’t even expect Sweet 16s consistently if you’re not willing to play the game. The NCAA has demonstrated that they do not care in the slightest about cheating in college. If a rule isn’t being enforced, and the people in charge of enforcing the rule make it clear they’re not going to enforce anything, you’re just hurting yourself by following the rule. We can sit around and be glad that we do things the “right” way, but that means we’ll be sitting around watching other teams succeed in the NCAA tournament while we’re on the outside looking in most years. -
They couldn’t get juiced enough to beat Purdue at home last year on the day Bob Knight made his return to the Hall. I don’t think there’s any bulletin board material out there that would get them fired up to play. For several years we’ve blamed it on a few players, if player X and Player Y just leave our problems will be fixed. Yet those guys are gone and our issues still exist. We just stink.

It sucks because I really want to like Archie. I didn’t like Crean because he was goofy and kind of weird and was also really inconsistent as a coach. But I wanted to like Archie. I wanted him to be the guy to succeed at IU. I just don’t see any realistic scenario where that happens. We aren’t good this year, and next year will be even worse unless TJD miraculously returns. No real point in waiting another year for the inevitable. -

John Calipari. I want him. Bring on the reactions haha. Seriously though, just get a winner. I don’t really care how he wins at this point. Just tired of mediocrity. -
What Can IUBB do to Revive Your Excitement/Confidence?
Hoosierfan2017 replied to Loaded Chicken Sandwich's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Honestly, it’s just me recognizing that I’m just an ordinary fan at the end of the day who can’t really do anything about it. I’m not a former player or a big donor so I don’t have any juice to squeeze. Getting mad about the games just puts me in a bad mood and doesn’t do anything to fix things, so what’s the point. I was big on the tank train during Crean’s last year because I thought we could land a home run hire to bring IU back. I thought Archie was going to be that guy. But it hasn’t worked out, and we’re 4 more years away from our past. Maybe we get things turned around. I hope that we do because I love IU and I loved my time at IU. Wouldn’t trade it for anything. But if we don’t, it is what it is. -

Hard to legally get access to at least, lol. I’m able to access any game on any given night. I’d be happy to pay to watch if the NBA has a good service available, but even league pass kind of stinks. -

Don’t even know what it’d take at this point. Winning, I guess. I was looking forward to this game, but got bored pretty soon after tip off. I’ve had half an eye on the screen since then. I got mad at losses during the Crean era. Now, meh. I go into every game expecting us to lose. Expecting us to keep it a 5-10 point game for most of the game but never pulling ahead. The combination of empty arenas and mediocre play has me more checked out on IU basketball than I have been in a very long time. I’m at the point where I’ve accepted were never going to be what we used to be, and I’m never going to experience IU at the top of its glory during my lifetime. -
Our running attack was really disappointing last year. Scott was down to 3.6 yards/carry after being at 5.0 his freshman year. Too often we’d simply run it up the gut for no gain or a yard or two. Hopefully whoever we hire can figure it out. If Penix is back to form next year it shouldn’t be too hard to have a good running game too.

Can’t say I’m mad about OSU getting blown out tonight, though I was rooting for a competitive game. Alabama is just on another level compared to the rest of college football.

Tonight was the first IU game I’ve actually enjoyed watching fur a while, but at some point these close losses need to turn into wins. We have a helluva schedule from here on out. -

None of them really consistently play well enough to deserve playing time. Might as well play the 5 star freshman. -

Because Penn State is terrible, we barely won, and our schedule is brutal moving forward.
