Idk how good of jobs LSU and Florida really are. Especially Florida. Mullen went 34-15 and got fired. BJ was 34-14 with 3 bowl wins (to the extent that even matters now) and got fired. 9/10 win seasons aren’t enough for those fan bases and the leashes are very short. Of course, Franklin got fired 9 months after making the semifinals, though, so that’s worrisome for candidates too. Of course top head coaches are football sickos who don’t think this way, but the Penn State job seems less stressful. There’s like 8 SEC schools that expect to win nattys every year.

The Calm Before the Storm

With the way he’s played this year, Indiana State would be the better fit for Arch. -
This is crazy. I get that with conference consolidation it’s not entirely an apples to apples comparison, but still… The SEC bias is nauseating.

B1G and Private Equity
Hoosierfan2017 replied to AZ Hoosier's topic in Other Indiana Hoosiers Athletics
Private equity makes everything it touches worse. Hope it stays far away from the Big Ten. -
Save up the money for football transfers, imo. We have a national title level football coach. To sustain it he needs all the money he can get. No reason to pay money toward a basketball program that has stunk for the great part of the last quarter century. If Devries exceeds expectations then we can talk about allocating some to basketball, but football needs everything right now imo.

Future Memorial Stadium Expansion

Pam’s legacy: To be honest, IU wasn’t an academic juggernaut before Pam took over. The acceptance rate was over 75%. That doesn’t mean IU didn’t have good programs, but no one was mistaking it for Harvard. Sports are the window through which the public views a university. A top football program (with the coming facility renovations, to stay on topic) will outweigh any academic controversies for the vast majority of people. If Coach Devries can turn things around too? May have to start Pam’s statue, or at least name a Mother Bears pizza after her. -
Does anyone in the country other than Joel Klat like Big Noon? The IU/UCLA game isn’t a big game, so it’s not a big deal, but I wish Bin Noon would go away.

Sounds crazy, but there could be an avenue to Coach Cig being a bigger name than Bob Knight at IU, especially given how Knight’s tenure ended. He’s not getting that anywhere else..

Especially when you turn 65 years old this summer. My extremely crimson tinted glasses say why leave for “greener” pastures when you legitimately have a national title contender at Indiana. Maybe he wants the prestige, and this might sound crazy, but I don’t think his ceiling at Penn State would be higher than his ceiling at Indiana is (because I no longer believe he has a ceiling at Indiana).

5 years ago a not insignificant contingent of NFL fans thought that Belichick, not Tom Brady, was the reason for the Patriots’ success. Fast forward 5 years and Tom won a ring in his first year with a different team, Bill got fired by the Patriots, no other NFL team wanted him, and now he’s getting blown out at home by a crappy Clemson team. How times change…

He’s gonna write so many bills banning IU from the CFP. Maybe he can take Heather Dinich with him as his chief of staff to do us all a favor.

Love that Pam was there yesterday. When you’re going to be fighting off bigger programs for your coach, it’s key for the brass to show full fledged support for the program.

Watch Alabama and Ole Miss jump us for beating Georgia and LSU, but then watch LSU and Georgia both stay in front of us because of their outstanding quality losses.

NIL is the only thing I could see causing Cig to leave. And a job like Florida doesn’t worry me all that much. This year Florida plays LSU, Miami, Texas, Texas A&M, Georgia, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Florida State. That’s an absolute gauntlet of a schedule. It’s not always going to be that tough, but still. Florida fans will expect any coach to win 6 or 7 of those, and when they don’t, they’ll call for his job. In the Big 10, you’ve got Ohio State, Penn State, and Oregon as the three top dogs, but really every other spot in the conference is up for grabs. IMHO, I think the road to the CFP is easier at IU than it is at Florida. The ceiling might be higher at Florida because of the blueblood name, resources, etc., but good luck getting through the SEC every year (like the fans will expect) to reach that ceiling.

Annoying that we’re not top 10 after beating a team they ranked #9 by 53 points, but whatever. Indiana vs. everybody.
