2026-27 Roster/Portal/how to fix the roster?
Hoosierfan2017 replied to Asha’man's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
This year would’ve been the year to try that. Making the tournament next year is a necessity if Devries wants anything more than a quick exit as head coach. -
It’s not like firing any of the last 3 coaches was the wrong move. But if you’re going to get the same results regardless of the coach, might as well save the money.
-
The worst part is that this year was a completely wasted one. No culture. No player development. No real vision for the future. We have to start over from scratch once again.
-
I don't really have any confidence in Devries, but I also think this past coaching search showed us that no one is coming to save IU basketball. We're gonna have to find a guy who can build something here. And Devries is getting 3 years at least regardless, so we'll just have to hope he can land enough talent in the portal to win at a level we'd be happy with.

2026-27 Roster/Portal/how to fix the roster?

If you had a 137 year old son going into his freshman year at IU in 2024, he would’ve only seen IU win a bowl game in 3 of those years. Two years later that youngster watched IU win the national championship. The past doesn’t really matter anymore in today’s college landscape. Not if you’re a legit coach. Not when you can pay millions of dollars to players. BYU of all places is landing 5 stars, and it’s not because 18 year olds are hyped to abstain from the typical collegiate extracurricular activities. It should be much easier for a coach to get IU basketball back toward the top of the conference than it should be to win a football national championship at IU, but the basketball program seems cursed. -
I’ll be honest… I’ve been spoiled so much the past two years that I’d be disappointed by a 8-4, 9-3 finish and solid bowl game. I 100% understand now why OSU, Alabama, etc. fans are the way that they are. With that said, I love college football so much that I’d still be fully on board if we regress to being good but not great. I think most fans are starving so much for a winner that they would be too. We’re certainly not looking like we’ll to get a winner in basketball anytime soon, and a “just good” IUFB would benefit in that scenario.

Outside of Dorn’s linsanity run, this has largely been another miserable season. At least they become more tolerable the more of them you watch, I guess.

I just signed up this week (lived out of state for a while and am moving back this summer). I’m telling myself it’s a long-term strategy to get myself in the door in case we get good again and demand for season tickets skyrockets.
-
On the bright side, maybe a bad finish and missed tournament will move me farther up the season ticket waiting list lol.
-
I was hopeful after that stretch earlier this year that we could make the tournament, but this season was decided more or less before summer workouts even started. Roster construction is everything, and we didn’t put together a good one. We’ll see what this portal brings.

Season tickets have been secured!!! So pumped. Very reasonably priced too, imo, coming off a natty.

Agreed with some comments on Twitter. With a blowout like this, it’s time to stop giving a Super Bowl autobid to the AFC.

Woodson was an *** and his players were openly combative with the fans. Archie ball was miserable. Crean’s last season was miserable. It’s been a decade really since I’ve actually enjoyed watching IU basketball. Idk if Devries is the guy or not. Time will tell. But I like him. He’s a normal guy. I think he’s good enough that he can at least get us back to making the tournament every year if he can land adequate talent. I like the guys on the team. They’re all easy to root for. I’ve actually had fun watching the last few games. It feels good, it feels good hearing a loud Assembly Hall, it feels good seeing the players interact with the fans. We won’t ever get back to where we were in all likelihood, but hey I wasn’t alive for that anyway. Just making the dance most of the time would still be better than what my IU fandom has been.

All of us here were alive a few weeks ago!!

IUFB Offseason Updates
Hoosierfan2017 replied to ThompsonHoosier's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Probably a dumb question, and the answer might be “you can’t,” because of the increased demand, but how would I go about buying season tickets for the upcoming season? I’m likely moving back to the Indy area in late summer and want to get season tickets if possible. I’m an IU alum if that matters/if there’s a different process. Worst case scenario I just get gauged by stubhub next year, but would appreciate any insight. -
Helluva win last night. The team needs to figure out wtf it’s doing against the press, but they could’ve easily folded after regulation but didn’t. Dorn’s emergence really transforms the team. There’s a clear path to the tournament for the guys now. Just gotta stack one game on top of the next and keep it moving.

I’m mad 8 months in advance about the aka Big Noon Taliban, ruining the IU/OSU game.

Luckily for us, with how stupid a large segment of college football media is, it’s likely that we’ll continue to be doubted next season by the same goobers who doubted us until the very end of this past season.
