God.... this thread makes me want to delete the entire app. I usually enjoy seeing other’s perspectives, but calling for a coaches head halfway through his 2nd year is a bad take. If I coached a team that comes out flat in almost every damn game, you could bet your bottom dollar I would start 4 or 5 different guys until I found 5 that came out hungry every single contest and play hard. Yeah, it's real embarrassing getting ran out of our gym by a tourney team with an abundance of jr/sr to carry them against a 2nd yr coach with not much left over talent from the previous staff, not to mention the plague of injuries suffered. So, if you guys are serious about being done with them, that is fine with me. No need for all of the whining here. It's truly amazing to me that after long discussions here about the other top teams in our conference (MSU, Mich) and the results of Izzo and JohnB in their early first few seasons, so many are dead set on CAM being a bad hire without giving him the time that it takes to build something. Instant gratification. Doesn't bother me one bit if we lighten the load of mass negativity that we see on this forum everyday. Doesn't have to be all sunshine and lollipops but jeez!

Beilein was 65-67 in his first 4 yrs at Michigan. Jay Wright was 52-46 his first 3 at Nova and then made the Dance year 4. Rick Barnes was sub .500 at Tenn his 1st 2 yrs, and now in year 4 he has them #3. Tony Bennett made the Dance UVA once in his 1sr 4yrs. Sometimes building a roster and culture that fits the Coach’s vision takes a minute. Not always and I’m not defending Miller. I despise this team’s pace of play and the fact that he is absolutely married to his offensive structure when the pieces don’t fit is 100% on him. The skill development piece of the program was better under Crean. I don’t think that’s really arguable. But Alford/Bailey is right. Anyone that looks at this roster at the moment, without Hunter and Thompson and with Davis hardly able to move, without an experienced starting PG, with an injured McRoberts getting minutes when a healthy McRoberts shouldn’t be able to, and thinks this team is ready to be a 2nd weekend tournament team is either, 1) flat out stoned, or, 2) doesn’t know what they’re looking at. Currently this roster is Langford, Morgan, and a group of mismatched role players. They can get better, but right now they’re required to do more than they are ready or able to do. This team has to compete like hell to win. Tonight they didn’t.

Let them talk it out. Maybe it’s therapy for them to type it out. Doesn’t change anything whether you like his coaching or not he will he here at least through his contract. Call it 2,3,4,5 year grace period, Crean honeymoon or whatever you want end result will be the same he isn’t going anywhere. The teams first big patch of adversity has came. They are a good team, a solid tourney team. Still absolutely zero excuse to lose to them at home by 15.

It’s not about W’s and L’s as much as no adjustments being made to effectively use players with the talents of a Romeo or JM. It’s absolutely fair to question a head coach in year 1 or year 30 who seems incapable of running anything resembling an offense besides just trying to force feed your post player or not giving your star guard any offensive scheme except giving him the ball and hoping he makes a play in iso.

I'd rather we lose with Moore and Forrester than with Fitzner and McRoberts. Make me think we're developing a plan for the future at least!

I did catch the game though, and might I say, that boy Ben Wallace is something else; we just couldn't bring him to a halt. Just a random though. From the “offense” that Archie wants to run, it seems to me it would require shooters to hit buckets and space the floor to open up for drives. Without shooter, those gaps don’t open. We don’t have anyone who can driver besides Romeo and maybe Rob. We have zero shooters who can shoot consistently. Most of the players playing are still Crean players. I’m not happy about this performance since Archie has shown up, but until he gets a full class (healthy class) I’m not losing faith in him. Hard to watch yes, frustrating yes, below expectations for sure but I’m not losing hope. Especially not this soon. If we have Rob, Keion, TJD, Hunter, Race, Clifton, Forrester, Al, Smith, Damezi and other players and we still don’t win, then I’ll start wondering if Archie was right or not. They have pretty much sucked the fun out of watching basketball for me this season.

Having zero 3 point shooters just absolutely kills our team. Feels like every other BIG team has multiple guys that can stroke it.

For Duke: 1. They still lost at home 2. Zion has 35 and 10 3. Number 1 and 2 players in 2019 still played Injuries and illness happen to every team 4. Lots of teams shoot poorly against Cuse zone 5. Making excuses for why a Duke team lost a home game (with their roster even without those 2 was better than Cuse) is one of many reasons why people have Duke fatigue. I’m sure it’s not a popular opinion but I’m still on the Archie bandwagon...but tonight was tough. Regardless firing a coach in less than 3 years has major ramifications for the future because no decent candidate will trust our administration to give them time to implement their system. Tonight was ugly, but what can you really do when 3-4 of your competent 7 players can’t create their own shot? Defenders sag off Justin and McRob, Fitzner isn’t really a threat, and I don’t think rob is a great offensive threat yet either. I’m going to wait until next year to criticize. I'm in the same camp. I'm tired of coaching changes, drama, blowout losses and message board meltdowns. If you can't find the right guy in 4 attempts than it's probably time to stop calling yourself a blueblood.

I was negative w Davis immediately and w Crean about 10 games in when I saw kids just standing on offense. I'm an expert at being negative early. Good Lord, a college coach needs to have an offense that can at least GET good looks consistently. It's almost like he doesn't want them in transition, but that's the only time they get decent looks on a regular basis. How he can have an offense oriented on low post play and penetration, and completely lack perimeter shooting is beyond my realm of understanding. Go get as many lengthy athletes as you want, but if none of them can shoot, you're not going to score with any consistency at this level. Big Ten teams can very easily collapse on post players, and many, like Nebraska, have kids who can make up ground and block or affect shots at the rim.

People have been ignoring what they are seeing all season long. We haven’t been good except for 1 game. This team could very easily miss the tournament. And no, I’m not overreacting. Center Grove defeated Franklin 65 - 48 for the Johnson County Tournament Championship. TJD led Center Grove with 23 points.

No one knows what goes on in practice. Not even media, as practices are closed. We assume Clifton isn't showing anything in practice because he doesn't see the floor during games. In the absence of any other reason, it's the best one available. But it's still just an assumption. I don't get to see practice, so I have judge what I see in games. I see a player just as lost as Fitzner on defense, but without the opportunity to learn on the job. Fitzner is in his final season and has played 2,134 minutes in his career. He is who he is. Clifton is a sophomore given just 92 minutes so far in his career. Yet in that small sample he's the best rebounder on the team, a capable shot blocker, and efficient from the field. Fitzner is none of those things. The one thing he does that Clifton doesn't is shoot the three, and that's completely disappeared in Big Ten play. So even if their defense is equally poor - and the metrics actually favor Clifton - I don't at all understand why you wouldn't run out the kid who has something else to offer, and who still has upside yet to be developed. Some lessons can only be learned through meaningful minutes in live games, and for some kids the best motivator is opportunity.

We just honestly have to take a look at the roster, and ask ourselves- what type of record did we expect? I was just as excited for the season as everyone else, and I thought getting Juwan back and landing Romeo would give us a pretty high ceiling. But then the reality set in when people started posting projected starting lineups: Green/Phinisee Romeo McRoberts Smith Morgan That roster just isn't very good. Really only 2 guys you can count on to score, and one of them is a freshman who's extremely streaky. An honest-no-BS assessment of that roster says we'd go 20-11, maybe 22 wins max. We're on track for that right now. We're just not a very talented team.

I expected more from this team as well, but I also realize the staff has only had a year to bring in their personnel, and one of those key contributors is redshirting. I am not a fan of the offense at all. I don’t understand how you can’t find ways to get the ball in Romeo/Juwan’s hands more often. Frustrating, but not calling for coaches head after 1.5 years. This loss is on Archie. He needs to get his sh*t together and stop getting out coached night in and night out. If the problem is the players not being coachable or buying into his system then sit them until they do. But my guess is he needs to toss his “system” and start over. The half court sets are as bad as I’ve ever seen at this level. Nothing he designs creates open shots which leads to one on one play with everyone else being out of position. On defense we’re helping far too much and getting out of position to box out the off man and get rebounds.

I'm just going to go ahead and say it. Archie Miller teams are garbage. Archie MIller coaching is garbage. We consistently start games unprepared. That's garbage. We consistently underperform against every team. That's garbage. We don't seem to have a successful gameplan against anybody. That's garbage. I'm f'n tired of it. We will be garbage as long as he's here. Dammit. Damn all of you that thought he was a good hire. Your opinion was garbage. Dammit, I'm really pssed.

I know Moore make some mistakes on defense but I think with more time he can iron those out. Having a guy with his length and mobility at 6’10” could really help us In the post. I think in the long run he could really improve his defensive awareness.
