Let’s be honest: Do you REALLY think Woodson would even ENTERTAIN the thought of going elsewhere? Regarding any additional money, he’d probably lobby for more for Kenya than himself.

Being at Indiana is personal to Coach. He is driven to get us back to the top. And he’s well on his way.

Broken a 9 game losing streak against Purdue and Michigan, made it to semifinals of BTT, made it to NCAAT, kept TJD, brought in 2 5* players in the same class….

His first year at IU was more successful than any of CAM time here at IU.  Time will tell, but the arrow is certainly pointing up.

There a quite a few variations I can think of that would be worth exploring. I would love for the program to step outside of its norm and really try to appeal to the younger generation. Just seen a photo of Reneau and JHS standing with Mike Woodson and both players were dressed in Nike from head to toe. I agree with those that say it doesn’t hurt as much as we think but it would help in my mind (switching to Nike). 

Oh it definitely does hurt. I know a few 25’ kids it would definitely help a ton get to Bloomington if we were a Nike school.

Also some good news is both Malik & JHS will be here in June for both summer sessions and workouts with the whole team. I like when we start building that team chemistry in June.

I'm still salty he took out our best two players in the biggest game of the year when we were up 6 with 13 left in the first half. Unbelievable. They came back in of course, but that kicked off the 39-6 run or whatever it was run. 

Woodson is looking good so far though, need to see results in March before we start talking extensions imo.

This coach probably knows high school talent when he sees it, considering he has been surrounded by it.  My favorite parts of the read:

 

“Indiana is getting a kid who has been a two-time national champion. That’s number one. He’s played at the highest level of high school basketball and has played the best schedule in the country and has found a way to be a part of two winning teams. And he’s been instrumental in both years with us going the distance and winning the championship."

 

“He’s a low block scorer that probably has the best footwork in all of high school.”

 

"As a sophomore, he attended a different school. A school in Miami. We played them and we had Day’Ron Sharpe and Scottie Barnes on the team. And Malik went for 22 and 12 against us. Those are two guys who were future first round (NBA) draft picks. He did that as a sophomore."

Another article with a response that excites me. This kid seems to understand the bigger picture and welcomes the competition. And he’s used to it, and he wants to use it to his advantage.

The talent extends beyond the freshman class, of course.  Assuming no additional transfers out, the frontcourt IU will have Race Thompson, Jordan Geronimo, Miller Kopp, Logan Duncomb, Banks, Reneau and perhaps even Trayce Jackson-Davis if he decides to take his name out of the NBA Draft.

That’s a crowded, deep frontcourt that Reneau views as an opportunity.  And it’s something he is familiar with.  Players attend prep schools like Montverde anticipating competition.  Reneau isn’t shying away from that, nor is he conceding anything when it comes to playing time.

“It’s definitely a developmental opportunity, but I’m in there, and I’m trying to play too, so it’s going to be competitive in the practices and stuff, and it’s just going to be good for everyone in the front court,” Reneau said.  “That’s how you get better, and that’s how you win championships.”
