Speaking of stadium stuff...a new, paywalled article from Niziolek this morning on the stadium project. The gist of it is stadium expansion is not in the cards any time soon (and Dolson makes a great case why not), with modernization, infrastructure and premium seating the current focus.

6th in the preseason AP poll also. 3rd most 1st place votes. It will sort itself out and we just need to win the games, but I’m more than a little annoyed about that. The coaches poll is a joke, but the AP carries more weight.

I see Haines and/or Shanahan being NFL guys before they go to a different school or taking over here. They’re both on the cutting edge scheme-wise and the QOL Cig has given them really can only be matched in the league.

I think this is entirely fair. I'm more interested in tiers than rankings (except for the front 7 thing, ours is definitely better) because anything can happen any time two teams step on the field and this feels like one of the strongest title contender tiers in a long time. Oregon is loaded and I'm curious to see if Lanning is ready to take the next step with that next step being just threatening for a title. I did not consider them a title threat last season. If he doesn't do it with this roster I'm not sure when he will. Miami is in a similar boat. They won't have the pass rush they had last year, but that roster is stacked with an upgrade at QB. I get to say all that from a real comfortable place too because they're all chasing Indiana.

Yeah, it's really not what anyone wants to hear but the Domers are going to be a load this year. I'd love to get another shot at them in January.

Sometime around 2017/18 all of the directional Illinois schools with maybe the exception of NIU were in a really bad place. They've bounced back a little since then, but Western and Eastern are shells of what they were even just 10-15 years ago.

Yeah I believe if they would have put every non-student ticket into the season ticket lot, we’d have had a sold out season in May. I kinda think they got this one right as far as giving more people a shot via mini packs, etc.
