  1. CDV has made some changes which is a great sign vs the typical stubborn coaching style we see. Moving Alexis into the starting rotation and now letting him lose down low a little bit has changed the game. "Slow walking" Conerway back into any rotation seems to have helped as well. And getting his son to play a more complete game has worked wonders. For whatever reason, they were in a mid season funk back in Dec/Jan. No longer there today. Arrow looking up. Just beat IL. :)
  2. Side note: I watched Joe Montana drive down and score on the Bengals in the 3 final minutes to win Super Bowl 23. Back when Kilroys had booths. :)
  3. That wasn’t the case several games ago when this thread was started. We had lost to Minn, gave up a big lead at home to Nebraska, and just got smacked at home by Iowa of all teams. (All covered up by Cig and the football team winning the championship). They were headed in the wrong direction. It has been a very nice turnaround since that time. Almost as if CDV read the thread and said “oh chit.” :)
  4. Yeah, it’s beating MSU that might be the problem. :) But one game at a time.
  5. Make the tournament and all arrows are pointing up. Especially with this flawed roster. Return Dorn, Miles and Sisley. Add the incoming HS players, and fill out the roster with some key portal additions. We’ll be cooking with gas.
  6. So can we just set it to the “Todd Golden Standard” — banner #6 by year three? Otherwise gone, so we don’t have to suffer another “yeat four?” :)
  7. Ok cool. Doesn’t me we can talk about deficiencies we see. Doesn’t mean expectations of a tournament birth are over the top.
  8. Then use him for your argument
  9. All arrows pointing up. Lets hope they translate to a tournament birth and momentum going forward.
  10. You gave zero credit to recruiting classes. You said his results were due to that coach. Now you’re saying it’s a combination of things? For some reason you refuse to accept the changed landscape with transfers and nil and how those conditions change expectations. But regardless, go today’s game thread. A bunch of posters came out of the woodwork questioning coaching decisions. So the jury is still out.
  11. They just have to do their job, one game at a time. Maybe steal one on the road.
  12. Are you just admitting it only takes a good coach one year?
  13. I don't really give two shats about Dan Hurley, but only point out he took over a worse dumpster fire than IU, without open transfers and NIL. As soon as those rules came into play, his success skyrocketed. Let's at least compare apples to apples.
  14. Loosing the entire roster actually makes it worse because you have so many spots to fill and little continuity. Without proven success you’ll end up overpaying for mediocre talent. Kind of like we did this year. Got to get in. And if we make a first weekend run all the better.
  15. I think it means more than you think. Like BC says, it helps with NIL. It also helps recruit the better players. They have 60 some teams to choose from, many with solid tournament histories. Right now IU has an unproven tournament coach at the power 5 level. He needs to take that step this year.
  16. Really need to make the tournament this year to create momentum for recruiting and next year.
  17. Ugly or not, a win is a win. On to the next.
  18. As ridiculous as playing in an empty stadium. Yeah I’m talking to you UCLA and USC.
  19. Sure, but life is way too short to participate in stuff one thinks is stupid.
  20. While I agree he’s not going anywhere in year 1, and probably not year 2 and 3, and the thread is way premature. But so what. If you don’t like the thread, don’t participate. Pretty simple.
  21. Great players make good coaches. The flip side is the weaker your team talent wise the more fundamentals, IQ, discipline, and coaching you need.
  22. Again, if it’s based on “the committee,” that’s the edge.
  23. Which defines “the edge.” Solidly in my mind means they have a game or two to mess up and it wouldn’t make a difference.
  24. How do you figure? No room for error -- They can't make one mistake. That is the definition of "the edge."
  25. You know what. We just watched UCLA and USC (with two "big time coaches") play in freaking empty stadiums. Pathetic fan bases, both of them. We may be crazy, but at least we'll show up.
