Grind??? Well at least they are not falling off a bridge somewhere.  Of course unless they would happen to decide to jump.

I will say, for Scott Drew, their lotto pick picked Baylor based off of his relationship he built with him, I think I remember trilly posting something along the lines of “relationship won this battle”

He was offered the general manager position and accepted, but spin it as quitting if you want.

I seriously can't believe after 25 years of mostly sh*tty coaches, we have people who are opposed to someone like Brad Stevens coaching here. Mind-blowing stuff.
That's the IU way....we might as well start the "fire ___________" thread and fill it in when it's announced....even if it's Stevens.

Brad Stevens quit too for a non-coaching job. What in his background suggests he wants to come grind the way a top college coach needs to grind? He quit his NBA coaching job 4 years ago, and that gig is less of a daily grind, involves minimal “recruiting ,” and comes with a months long, defined offseason.

This. Brad has it made in Boston, and he is on top with a recent championship. We have a better chance of getting him to come into the Pacers organization as GM instead of taking his chance at under the microscope job at IU. I believe he is indeed the smokescreen and someone like Pearl/Drew/May will be hired.

When I see people use the word “grind”referring to the men’s basketball head coaching position I laugh to myself because I’ve worked many jobs that I would consider a real grind day in and day out, but I don’t think I would consider that job on its hardest day to be a “grind” even at the highest level, what are they out there digging every day for bandwidth?  They are also instant millionaires and live in the lap of luxury. Lol

You’re not spending 12 hour days repairing roofs in 90 degree heat as a P5 head coach, but this isn’t a job you excel at if you’re not all in. Like, we literally just fired a coach last month who failed because he half-a**ed the job for the past four years.

Yes, it’s much more productive to speculate about Cody Zeller being Brad’s new IU GM because he caught an IU game during his wife’s West coast tour.
If you want to argue on the basis of productivity, all discussions on this board are a waste of time. Just ask all the employers of fans on this site the last 3 or 4 weeks and tell me productivity didn't decrease...

Using the word “productive”  relative to posting & consuming material on a college basketball fan board is certainly interesting.  I’m here for entertainment and rely on other avenues to satisfy any need for productivity.  Sounds like you may end up disappointed if trying to be productive here…

And miss out on pretty much every aspect of being a parent.  Listen to any coach that is out of the game or just taken year off and hear the joy in their voice about being able to be an actual parent.   Like you said the most successful ones give up a piece of their life just for a game

Nothing made me appreciate a 9-5 like living a very toned down version of that life as a young dad. Respect to those who do it, respect to those who found there’s a better quality of life out there lol.

I have not seen one person opposed to Brad Stevens, just people who understand Brad Stevens isn’t going to return after a decade absence, snap his fingers, and magically have IU as a national title contender in a year or two.

That and it’s completely pointless to speculate because he has zero interest in this job. There’s nearly 1000 pages worth of speculation on a candidate that has a better chance of retiring and moving to the moon tomorrow than he does coaching Indiana. It’s so freaking silly that Brad Stevens continues to dominate the general candidate thread.

I wish I could buy what you think know for what it’s worth & sell it for what you think it’s worth…

He simply checks every single box for all parties.  He’s the one hire who would make both the administration and the fans extremely happy.  No one else can come close.  That’s why Dolson has pursued him so heavily.

Also, he makes IU legit national championship contenders every single year.

I am equal opportunity lazy.  Whether it’s during a coaching search, or mid July, or mid October, steady as she goes.  Under promise.  Over deliver.  Just don’t ever let them assume your productivity is decreasing by decreasing it day 1.  Gentleman, that is how you maintain the amount of posts I have had on various forums over the years.  It all pays the same and nobody is ever disappointed.

If I were Isaac, and were trying to troll this thread even more, I would come on here at 3:00 and post a link to Brad Stevens' Masshole press conference from 4 years ago like it is a link to a live stream for the announcement. I would respect him more for creativity, at least...

If it’s not Stevens i think it’ll be Drew & I don’t think Baylor is going to go too far in this tourney so we’ll know sooner rather than later.

Unless those Indiana Hoosiers are still rolling in the tourney then they will have to wait until they lose
