  1. This is interesting to see, but it has no relevance today. A coach today with IU resources can either identify and sign the right players or they can’t. Many can’t. I truly am pulling for DD because I do think he has it in him. This is a test of all tests and I hope he evolves and rises to the top.
  2. That doesn’t equate like it use to in this day of NIL. Cig showed us that.. not an excuse at an institution like Indiana anymore.
  3. Maybe it isn’t quite fair to use Dusty as an example because he is a savant of sorts. He intuitively knows exactly how to construct a roster for a deep run. Once he got it figured out at FAU I think it was all downhill from there and if he would’ve come to IU, he would’ve done pretty close to the same as what he did at Michigan. Dusty’s scouting on incoming freshman and fill in pieces I believe would be a lot different at this juncture with this team, but I guess we’re going to see who fills out the last roster spot and where this season goes, but I believe we’re gonna get a good picture of the direction of the program this year with all the support and money that is at his disposal. Rubber meets road…time to coach.
  4. Michigan was built back up in a day after the Howard disaster.. ;)
  5. I agree, but that doesn't mean that with everything at IU's disposal that we shouldn't be building every season with a NC in mind. If you want to compete with the big dogs you have to think like the big dogs and not just settle for making the tourney and a second round scenario, that would be great for say, Butler.. We have to find a way to build a roster that won't get worn down by March and hopefully alleviate injuries etc.. I don't think we are far off base here either, but signing glorified walk-ons isn't going to cut it late in the season imo. Signing a quality 4/5 combo that can give some quality minutes would go a long way.
  6. Building blocks are fine and dandy but with..,(in the neighborhood of 20mil) for roster revenue, I’d say a lot of people want to win now. We are close no doubt, but you can’t fumble the ball at the 1 yard line.
  7. It depends on if there are real concerns or not. We have one spot left. When you see how Michigan has been building their roster as a pretty good model for modern basketball, you can begin to see a pretty glaring hole in our front court at least. That doesn't take away from the fact that DD landed two high caliber post players though.
  8. I think the idea here is about adding rotational players that can come in and not have a huge drop off especially for our post players so they can keep their legs under them unlike last year. As it stands, we have no back up plan for injuries or foul trouble and that is a concern. Sokolov may be ok for a few min but I believe we need at least one more serviceable Big for necessary Big10 depth. Running out of money is the only thing that makes sense to me.
  9. True, and the point guard/shooting guard thing is overblown imo…if Lindsay has good court vision, a good handle and can distribute/shoot then he could run the show if Burton goes down. Moody the same as he builds his game with combo guard attributes. nMy concern is one more playable big.
  10. Tks for the comps..so we can expect some descent minutes/production for where their ranking numbers are. I feel like Moody will be on the higher end of the spectrum.
  11. So #13 will prob be from the Hyper
  12. I would guess that would put us in the F4 conversation....would be a dream scenario. I could see someone like Cuban adding a little extra to the pot if this was doable.
  13. Looks like he shoots with left and right hand which is interesting..
  14. Many good points here and I would say that I too give DD a pass for last season just because of all the things we know that hampered things once he got here and I think he did a good job with the roster that he had. Now with the added GM and all the assistants in place and the money and everything else that is the reason why this is a top 10 coaching job is proof in that he was able to land the players that he did, which I’ve said he’s done a really good job which shows what a good coach can do here at Indiana and I do believe that we are just a few solid backups away from being right on par with those top tier teams. I don’t believe many other teams could get that close in one off-season.
  15. It starts with prioritizing the right players and adding the right amount of depth behind them to be on the Duke/Michigan level and it seems we are comparable in funds. We have started out on the right foot this off season and then just fell off a cliff it seems. Like has been stated… this particular year needs to be the cornerstone of what we build off of for the future and it has to be done all the way imo. If no quality depth is added at least in the post then we will be dragging a$$ yet again down the stretch. I just see no reason to spend 20 mil on this roster and not pull in the finishing touches, which will pay big dividends down the road in so many ways. Hope there is a surprise or two waiting in the wings.
  16. Why can’t we be Duke/Michigan? Self imposed limitations? Just settle for 20 wins and eek into the tournament? I doubt Dusty has any more funds than we do, maybe less for bball, but he knows how to construct a deep tournament roster. We need a good 10 player rotation imo., and proceed like we want to contend for a NC like our other team right next to AH.
  17. I guess I assumed that most deals are 1 yr. That would make sense though.
  18. I think retention is a great thing, but I don't understand how you save money? If players on roster progress, they will want a raise and a big one if they did so good that other schools are willing to enter a biding war. You will always have your 2nd and 3rd tier players that you plan x amount $$ for regardless. Maybe I'm not looking at it right though.
  19. I would think that adding a GM from the NBA to the roster at IU would be shooting for challenging for a NC? This seems like…? i could be happy though with true dogs that leave blood sweat and tears out on every floor.
  20. george lettice Sr. @georgelettice69 X.com Wang got a payday someone else btw
  21. The UConn men’s basketball teams that won the national title in 2023 and 2024 were exceptionally large and dominant in size compared to the rest of the NCAA. Both championship runs were fueled by substantial height, length, and frontcourt depth.
