We need a coach that will “do something about it”. Cig, “did something about it”. Thats what paying people millions of dollars do..Hope this cycle works and he figures it out.

Those tables were turned rather quickly. DDV could do the same with some unexpected success and high quality evaluations. Maybe it will happen.

No revelation, but isn’t that why our athletic director finally got to have his choice and pay a coach millions of dollars to navigate through that? We have a major brand after all.

Since when has Iowa, Illinois, St.John, Iowa St., Arkansas, Alabama etc.. been a thing until they got a good coach and some financial backing?

Good points, I think swag can be achieved in other ways, but first you have to be a good identifier of exactly the right talent that you want in your program and then identify the top two targets and pay whatever it takes to get those two players and then let the rest of the chips fall. I have a hard time believing that we are that far below Michigan moneywise. I really don’t think there’s any other way for DDV to do that and time as of the essence.

Maybe our deal makers suck and or we are on a tight budget. No reason we can’t get some early momentum with 14 mil at our disposal if that number is even close. Can’t afford to let everyone else have their pick when we are Indiana..need to nail down a big one fast..show some Cig swagger. Indiana has history and name value even if we haven’t been that good for several thousand years.

Maybe I'm wrong on this, but the way I look at it is that we still have to pay Dorn out of that budget, so if he's asking more or whatever there is a good chance we could get more productivity possibly for equal the amount?

We need a deep dive into our philanthropist pockets to gain momentum and get the class balancing figured out this season. Spend 20-30 mil this year and think about budgeting later. Took Dusty 5 years to get it going at FAU, but after that we can see what he is doing with the right funding behind him. Hope DDV can do the same.

This portal season will either make or break Teri and her tenure here imo. It could go either way. I hope for once she knocks it out of the park.

I hope if Teri decides to keep on coaching that her new assistant can start pulling some Genies out of a bottle and find some funding one way or another. No good recruiter is going to stick around if her/his hands are tied.

Well....that sucks. A parsing of words I guess, and like TTT said above, even if there was a level playing field in place cheaters would cheat to get the upper hand. Only way I can see it is if all payments made to college athletes would have to be made public and all salaries on roster could not exceed 5 mil or whatever. I'm sure there is always loop holes though.

Why not just have a salary cap?
