IUWBB @ PUke - Sunday, 01.25.26 @ Noon on BTN
ronzo4IU replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Women's Basketball
Would hate to see TM go out on such a bad note but if she does given the state of football, I could see giving the job to Patburg on a budget. -
Must be a great hire, who could ever doubt the man..
-
I agree about Conwell/Dix…Glad we got Wilkerson. To bad we couldn’t land Miller/Flory…would’ve been quite a team.
-
I tried to go back and find out some of the post players that DD was interested in last portal. Fredrik Leo Curtis Baba Miller Federiko Federiko Tyrell Ward Elyjah Freeman
-
I concur. Then the only thing to deduct from it all is that he just was not able to get the post players he needed for one reason or another.
-
I think he learned a big lesson about playing in the Big10…but If DD can’t over spend this off season I don’t think next year will look much better. He need big bags of money.
-
I don't want to be negative at all because I would rather TM figure it out than change coaches. Maybe the silver lining is Colston Thompson. Maybe a recruiter like him has been the missing piece of the puzzle. Hopefully, but if this next class doesn't work out i'm pretty sure a change will be in order and most likely TM will know when to call it quits unlike a former mens coach.
-
Yes, but I would feel a little better knowing that at least he tried to get high caliber post players and not thinking he was good with what we had, especially considering how long he's been in the game..lol

I think what many are feeling is that she has had her moments of being a good coach, but not great. I think this goes back to before her "recruiting sins" back when we were #1 seed and lost at home to Miami. Under performing as well as at times over performing but never much consistency. I have supported her teams thru thick and thin and even now. I as well as many may not see that "help is on the way" as hopeful as maybe you do. I always hope for the best, but there is a disconnect in her coaching that i'm sure I will never know what it is.
-
Yes, I get that, but I also remember him striking out on some bigs like the one from TT but I can't remember all who they were.
-
Did he think he could win playing small ball or was this all he could get?
-
True, but the IU brand is nothing to sneeze at ;)
-
DD has to hone his skills at exactly the right players to go after and then close the deal. He may have to start studying a ton more tape like i've heard Dusty May, (Cig) does. Maybe he does already have that skill and just was too new and unknown at this job to close the deal on his top choices last year, but this off season he has to land those players, no if ands or butts.
-
I don't think it would be a red light to a coach like CIg who was super confident in his abilities and plan with the added resources @ around 10 mil plus pay upgrade and all the other perks that come with a National Spotlight job like IU is. IMO

Was stuck freezing azz off on Kirkwood but worth every frost bit extremity…what the hell just happened? INDIANA SHOCKED THE NATION!!!! The most storied run of all time just happened!!!! Just can’t believe it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
I'm sure I've been by there many times. My sister lived in Woodbury (St. Paul) for a while. I would probably only live here in Bloomington otherwise I would go to Oregon where some of my family have moved to. I love the Eugene area. Bloomington is a great town though. Good luck on watching the game!

Don’t go…should be a state holiday :) Upstairs Pub will be rocking all day! Go Bears! -
Maybe we should go to hiring an up and coming coach with a ton of energy on a year to year contract with no buy out. It’s a chance for a smaller salary coach to at least get rich overnight. IU could never be a bad coaching gig if a coach leaves here with several million in the bank I would imagine.

He is way more nice/engaging than Archie but doesn’t seem to be an Alpha that I think we need at the helm. Has a good track record but might have been more comfortable as an assistant. Maybe why he stayed 17 years @ Creighton. Thats a lot of years as an assistant.

I rewatched the game-painstakingly-and I agree with BGleas. The effort is there but the limitations make it look like poor effort. Connerway was busting azz going to the hoop since everyone is guarding us tight out 50’ lol. Enright also hustles but physically limited.. Baily has good effort but seems lost a lot. Tucker, yes…could work harder but isn’t very athletic….so on and so forth. Wilkerson can’t win by himself and Alexis is far from a rim runner. Teams have neutralized us by taking our 3pt shot away for sure and the adjustments DD is trying to make are being worked on in practice but not in games according to him.

1000% agree!

Dusty went 27-10 year 1 and targeted Wolf. We got Bailey, who I kind of think can be coached up but doesn’t have much time left. Team not buying into DD’s offense does sound extremely damning if true. Worst case scenario we hire Dane Fife on a budget. :)
