Possibly a key point in getting a new coach on board.

The NCAA Division I Council shortened this year’s portal window. It’s only 30 days this time around, and the window won’t open until after the first weekend of the NCAA tournament.

We haven't even gotten to the formal part of the job interview yet and won't for some time. Not like Stevens needs to interview but we're not going to sit down with him for some time.

He might say no. All of you people who have said Stevens is 100% not coming to IU will be able to post I told you so. But to say we have no chance, you're flat-out wrong. 

Nothing is happening with any candidate this month I can tell you that. So relax watch some games, go outside and get some air.

CBB needs to be saved nationally, and Brad Stevens would bring immediate attention to the game again. That may increase the “pressure cooker” element of this job, but he would also garner immediate sports celebrity status on Day 1.

Just listened to RabJohn's on the radio and these were some things he talked about.

1) A lot of people wanted to move on from Woody after last year but a couple people didn't agree. Also said a lot of people around college basketball couldn't believe he got a 4th year

2) That Stevens and May will be the first to get a call.

3) Pearl is not involved 

4) Beard has a huge uphill battle. Said that the one incident that was reported is probably not the first incident involving Beard. Also said he tried to get his name into the UL and UM job and those two didn't want anything to do with him.

His agent /wife was misogynisticly insulted as the negotiations were ramping up

He was actively coaching the Celtics in season and the Celtics were in th process oftransitioning Danny Ainge out of the front office and they saw Stevens as their top choice.

He has now won an NBA championship with the Celtics.

He and Tracy had a HS freshman and beginning middle schooler that had never known anything other than Boston since being a toddler. One is now back in Indiana and the other will be a rising junior and much better mentally equipped to deal with a new location.

His family voted 3-1 to stay in Boston.

Now all of this doesn't mean he takes the job,but those flat out saying they know he won't are either trolling or just using a defense mechanism to avoid feeling jilted again.

Just going on record for me personally since we're in a new search, I don't believe much of that happened last time. It wasn't close, he was never coming last time.

Regardless of who the coach is next year I don't see Braylon attending any school other than UConn, and if he were too it would be due to developing's at UConn and not due to other school if that makes sense.

Eye on CBB mentioned again yesterday that one of the reasons he didn’t take UL was the fish bowl aspect. They’ve mentioned it several times, never anything about a buyout demand. Dolson was in contact with him and Pearl last offseason.  IU could’ve hired either … then QB got involved - again.

They could literally get to option 14 in this coaching cycle and IU will be in better position as a program then they have been the last 4 years.   Personally can not wait and I know Old Fart feels the same way to get back to a point to where we are followIng high school recruiting again.  This place will be busy  in the recruiting threads once again during the offseason which use to be just as fun on this board then it is during the regular season.   Lots of things to be excited about moving forward for the program we love.

BGleas can comment better than I, but I believe BGleas was with the Celtics, but was no longer with them during the 2021 IU coaching search. Still means he knew people in the Celtics org.

He’s very biased though.  Has always seemed to be much more of a Celtics fan than an IU fan.  Anytime someone has mentioned Stevens and IU over the years he seems offended.  Almost like someone is trying to poach his wife.  Not saying he’s wrong at all just extremely biased.  But no I don’t think we’re getting Stevens.
