This is probably a lazy take but outside of age, I’m still getting strong Cignetti vibes from McCollum (especially after listening to him on D*kich today). Supremely confident in himself and his system, no BS, the standard is the standard, production over potential. I know the tempo is a red flag…. But outside of that, I think his style is EXACTLY what Indiana fans want. Defensive-minded, constant motion offensively, relentless effort on both ends. I know it’s not as modern, but that’s the kind of team we can be proud of. (Purdue sucks!… But so does Michigan & Ahia State!)

Yeah I get that too. I just think if it's a big name, from a PR perspective, it's less hiding at that time... and more taking over every pregame / halftime / postgame show when everyone is watching

IIRC, Crean was fired right before the ball was tipped on Thursday of the tourney. From a PR perspective, I could see us announcing something then (if not an active coach with team in tourney)
