He was infamous in San Angelo well before Texas.  Beard liked to party really party to the point that it was  known around town that he was a mess.

I just feel bad for the Mods. They’ve literally said at least 3-4 times minimum to stop talking about Beards DV etc yet people just don’t listen. That has to be frustrating honestly.

I think there is a segment of recruits that will look elsewhere.  But there is also a group of players that would jump at the chance to be coached and play for a team that wins 90 plus percent of the time.

It’s his style, period. It’s not a personal issue. He has always played at a snails pace. He wins, I googled him, but his style is not appealing to fans and I imagine it wouldn’t be for top ranked players

In fairness to everyone, it really only got heated one time. That flamed out and we’re all good. Has it been debated ad nauseum? Sure. But if it eventually takes over all conversation and needs its own thread over the next 6 weeks (like the Fire Mike Woodson thread needed for almost 2 whole years) we’ll move the discussion and let everyone have at it.

Plus we have verifiable data that you offer enough money they will come and play in a system that makes no sense for their skill sets lol. I realized after responding to @MikeRobertsabout this that we literally convinced high usage downhill guards to come play at place that plants two bigs in the paint all the time.

I just thought I remember seeing one of the mods say to completely stop talking about DV and that for sure hasn’t stopped regardless of heated or not. By now everyone knows Beards background. I just think other things can be discussed instead of debating whether a guy should or shouldn’t be hired for 10 straight days when it’s not even about basketball.

He would have to dominate for that to be widely accepted. If you aren’t winning big and you are putting up 50 points a game that would be painful to watch

Someone once described Archie’s team to me as “it’s like Virginia basketball except you don’t win at the end” lol

Apparently he’s a 40 mins of hell guy. They just pressure teams into submission. 

Check out his record before that at West Liberty. Crutch can coach- a former player of his is a good friend of mine. I know you weren’t seriously suggesting him as a candidate, but Hoosier fans would hate him-

line change subs. He’s also pushing 70.

And yet he's able to maintain a top 25 program in basketball. No I don't see drinking in a bar as an "alcohol problem". Optics problem? Maybe, but only if he's being a belligerent drunk everywhere. You'll have to forgive me, I forgot that the standards at IU, in Bloomington, IN, are so much higher than anywhere else
