Last time, IU missed on 1a and then went to 1zzz. Can't skip those steps this time. I agree. Make your offer to the top guys and don't worry if they say no. I don't understand why schools panic when their first couple of coaches they pursue say no. lillurk 1
Popular Post Uspshoosier Posted February 9 Popular Post Posted February 9 SEC is grind and is trending as the best college basketball conference. The B1G is clearly number 2. If I’m a high level sitting coach I would look for a job opening in the B1G. One that is at the top of the Nil food chain in the whole conference and probably top 5 nationally would look really appealing to me. While the B1G is a great conference no school or coach currently scare you. Easier to move up the ladder in the conference in the B1G compared to the SEC. Ius opening will be very appealing to a lot of great coaches coonhounds, GloryDays, Pagoda and 18 others 21
Demo Posted February 9 Posted February 9 https://www.thedailyhoosier.com/iu-basketball-coaching-search-2025-hot-board-version-1-0/ Schumann’s 1st tier list. I like Mike, smart guy. Couple of things: 1) I’m not as high on Drew as some, but if Rick Bozich is correct that he straight turned down UK and U of L both last cycle, taking IU would be quite an endorsement. 2) Golden in a top tier seems off, but, damn, look what dude’s doing. lillurk, Henryville Hoosier and thebigweave 3

Chris007 Posted February 9 Posted February 9 13 minutes ago, Herotime said: That’s a great question. This is what ChatGPT said on the topic— If you’re representing a college or university and want to interview an NBA coach or executive for a coaching or front-office position, you still typically need to request permission from the NBA team before conducting the interview. NBA teams often have contracts with their coaches and executives that include buyouts or restrictions on interviews. While colleges don’t operate under the NBA’s jurisdiction, professional teams generally expect institutions to follow proper channels out of respect for existing agreements. It’s best to contact the NBA team’s front office—likely starting with the President of Basketball Operations (Brad Stevens, in the case of the Celtics)—to formally request permission. If the coach or executive is under contract, the team may allow the interview, deny it, or set conditions such as compensation for an early departure. If you want to interview Brad Stevens for a coaching or front-office position at a college or university, you would need to request permission from **Wyc Grousbeck**, the **majority owner and governor of the Boston Celtics**. Since Stevens is the **President of Basketball Operations**, he is one of the top decision-makers in the organization, meaning there’s no higher-ranking front-office executive above him. In these cases, ownership typically handles such requests. You would likely need to go through the Celtics’ ownership group, with Grousbeck being the primary point of contact. It would be best to formally reach out to the Celtics' organization through their front office, either via email or direct call, to ensure you're following the proper channels. Can anyone validate that story with 100% certainty? I was told that was not true and made up by pro Dolson people to make it look like he had it on lock and then others came in and screwed it up for him. Meanwhile he was never really coming because his family didn’t want to. That last part should have been known very early on but was overlooked. One of many reasons Buckner and others were able to claim incompetence and push him aside and take control of the hiring and insert their guy, aka plan zzz.

Might as well hire Tom Crean back if we’re not landing a big fish (Pearl, Stevens, May) How is May a bigger fish than Cronin? Cronin is in every top 20 list you can find. And comparing Cronin to Crean? That's just silly to put it kindly OKHOOSIER and T White 2

He was pissed when UCLA joined the B1G as he didn’t like that brand of ball. That was part (not all) of the reason he went west when he was on the market previously. That doesn't make sense because Cronin's style is the same as the big ten brand bird4par, lillurk, moyemayhem and 1 other 4

I think Pete Yonkman is the voice at the table for Cook. It doesn't mean Ferguson still doesn't hold some weight. You seem to be pretty close to the situation. If I remember correctly Dolson had zeroed in on Matta as his guy and the uncertainty with his health stopped that and Dolson didn't have a plan B? That is the part Brian Evans leaves out of the story. But after that Quinn moved in. At the time Jawan Howard made an elite 8 and Penny was moving in the right direction. The narrative had softened a bit on the alumni coach. thebigweave, cybergates, KnightsChair and 1 other 3 1
