I understand.

My biggest fear is that IU won't hang another NCAA National Championship banner within the next decade or so.

That and the old mantra about peace on Earth...and love is everywhere...except towards Purdon't.

I found myself asking “why hasn’t IU even had a Cinderella elite 8 run in the last 15 years?” And how has K-State made 3 elite 8’s with 3 different coaches in 12 years? and then remembered that we only went to 4 of 11 tournaments.

I hate that competition so often brings out the worst in people. Respect for the opponent should always be a part of any game. Win and lose with class. I have a granddaughter who played eighth grade basketball last season and when I went to some of her games I was appalled by the behavior of some of the fans and cheerleaders. Very little sportsmanship and very little respect for the opponent. The parents were the worst. Coach Knight and Coach Learn demonstrated what respect and competition should be about.

While RMK treated Keady with respect, if memory serves he juuust maaay not have exhibited the same classy, respectful attitude toward some of his peers in the coaching fraternity.  ;)

You are correct. CBK had his own criteria for who deserved respect and who didn't. Having lived through the entirety of the Bob Knight era , I saw all of it in real time. I appreciate what CBK and what Coach Keady did during that time. I like that two former players of both coaches are leading their respective universities. I love the rivalry again because both coaches understand it.

Sad news. He was the coach at IU for about half of my life. I vaguely remember the '87 championship and my favorite IU teams are still the ones of the early '90s. I'm glad he decided to let his grievances with IU go and has been around the program for the past few years. He wasn't perfect but he was a great coach. RIP
