  1. Also shows the Indiana high school coaches that the Indiana basketball coach is back to recruiting and making Indiana kids a priority. Optics of that would be nice for a coach starting his second year

  2. Hopefully exactly two; Burton and Haralson. They are both very talented. If our staff can't develop talent and scheme then it's all a moot point, but if they can, these two would be high-level additions.

  3. If they work out like Pat Coogan I’d say as many as possible.

  4. BOOM! We got her! From what I'm seeing on X -- No. 26 overall prospect and No. 6 PF in Class of 2027. Great get!

  5. Hmm. Things are getting spicier, that’s for sure. I’ll go on record I love Haralson and his potential. His positional size, athetlcitism, toolkit, and versatility and not to mention his capability to be a ++ defender goes a long way for me. Shooting concerns me a bit, but we need/want 3 shooters on the floor. 2 is ok if elite, 3 preferred. Thats where roster makeup and team building comes in.

  11. I also hope our Euro scout is MUCH improved. I’d like to spend money there. I think the value can be huge for shooting/size/experience. I’d love to throw some real money at a projectable NBA talent from Europe. Like Hannes Steinbach from Washington. Find a clone of that guy and PAY him.

  14. I'm no MLK, but I have a dream of Burton and Bidunga, who faced off in the State Semifinals a few years back, joining forces here in Bloomington. Think that would be a real fun start to a transfer portal class.

  16. An underrated aspect of Haralson? All of his to date-inefficient talent comes via a 19 year old who will improve dramatically.

  17. Never forget last April when chatgpt declared Purdue the 2026 national champions. Probably one of Purdue's finest moments.

  18. 4M for Haralson seems totally insane to me...? I literally couldn't care less about the players getting paid, they deserve it, but seems like a very frothy and unsustainable market right now. How are teams supposed to build a roster when a guy who didn't even make the ACC all freshman team is going to command 3M+? With that 3 point FG% and AST:TO ratio? Makes it kind of easy for me to want to just glaze over the roster building process and see where we end up when the balls roll out on the court next year. A case study on radically free market economics indeed.

  20. Valuations have gone up a lot. And I asked ChatGPT last year what $10M would likely buy us. It said a Sweet 16 team lol.

  22. I think if there is mutual interest you have to push hard. Both guards from Notre Dame. One is a Mr basketball and the other was a 5 star guard that went elsewhere the first time around. If you are paying for hired guns each year my opinion the kids from the state might play for more then money represented the home state team. That’s Miamis coaches philosophy. Recruit high school kids and then focus in the portal on kids from Florida and Miami

  24. Yeah, but maybe in Romeo's defense (distance shooting) he had an injured wrist/hand a good chunk of the season?

  25. Ummm…. True freshman Blake Smythe got name checked by Tyrique Tucker as the first young lineman he could think of that has made an impression on him. Indy kid and a legacy Hoosier. Good size and 3* high schooler with multiple P4 offers. Apparently a player to keep an eye on.

  26. Kid runs the floor well and is active. His team seems to be filled with some guys who want to just take their man on 1 on 1. The one time they kicked it out Vaughn drained a 3. So I’m not going to take much from the stat line this game. He is slight in stature and needs to add 30 lbs of muscle.

  27. I don't agree Haralson is the kind of guy you blow out the budget for. Not to the extent of 4-5M. He is talented and young but look at his assist:TO ratio and 3FG%... optics wins don't help if they don't translate to wins on the court. And spending all your money on two good players then a bunch of scrubs seems like a great way to not get optimal results on the court. It's wonderful your sister was able and willing to go above asking for a home she fell in love with. Hope she enjoys it. That's not how prudent organizations function. Can't make emotional decisions with a finite pot of money. Can't hit the easy button and buy a solution, if the solution is 2 studs and a bunch of bench warmers. Have to do a good job on the dirty work of scouting, evaluating, prioritizing, negotiating, pitching, selling... IMO, that's the lesson of this year. Not that we need to construct a roster like BYU or Rutgers two years ago.

  28. Third straight yr thats happened. Makalusky was 34, Nyemcheck 28, and now Parker 26. Definitely headed in the right direction and how recruiting is supposed to look. Hiring the new recruiting guy was game changer.

  36. Not sure what the rumours were/are but my bro-inlaw knows the Sisleys pretty well (he coaches HS in evansville area) and say they really, really like Coach Devries. That they believe 'he's doing it the right way' is what they said to him. Take it for what it's worth 'cause it's kinda secondhand but no reason he'd tell me that (he's more of a PU fan) if it wasn't true.
