  1. Beilein was 43-56 in his first 3 years at Michigan so most of you on here would have wanted him fired by now.

  2. Watched the first half and saw all the signs I needed that we wouldn’t compete in the second. Ended up going to the lab and finishing a couple projects, way better use of my time. Archie’s days at IU are numbered. Unless something drastic changes in the players attitude from year 3 to 4 we’ll be lucky to get a few on the road to offset the few we lose at home to the more determined teams. We’re soft, mentally and physically. I thought that at a minimum that would change from Crean to Archie but the players don’t really give a damn. The university doesn’t really care either. There’s zero buzz on campus too. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

  3. Wait shouldnt Beilein get 3-5 years even if its obviously not a good fit? Shouldnt the Cavs wait on a GM to retire? How about let the team "get old"? No, when its not working its not working. Make the change.

IU basketball is no longer appointment television for me, and there's no way I can be the only one. I think the last game I watched was the Maryland game. Zero chance I would ever go out of my way to watch us in a road game. I already know the result: we lose by double digits and I get very angry in the process. Just a sad state of reality here. Holding out hope we still make the tournament, but can 18 wins get us in? Probably not.

  6. Recruit soft, nice players, get those results. I’ve been saying for a while I only want 1 guy from this team. And that guy didn’t show up today. Sometimes the offense looks so robotic with nothing ever happening. The players don’t seem to have much ability to freelance or are unable to do so. No shot makers is a part of it. No good drivers. Despite the record this is one of my least favorite Indiana rosters ever. Aside from TJD, I don’t look forward to anyone coming back next year. That’s a problem. 8. I really don't have a lot of positives to say about Archie right now. He has had a total of 7 in-state recuits commit to playing for him. That might be it. Archie is all bark no bite. He promises that changes are coming...nothing happens. It's the same crap over and over again. He holds nobody accountable. Players can do whatever the F they want. That was one of the worst performances of the Archie era and that is saying something. Really, what is the difference between year 1 and year 3? I was at the Indiana State game in 2017. Same crap. This is not an NCAA Tournament team. Go watch a team like Auburn-hell, even Penn State play. There is such a huge gap between this team and the really good ones. The blame falls on Fred Glass too. He 1) Extended Crean after one good season and 2) Let our programs APR suffer under Crean. Archie had it tough coming in but there are no excuses by now. Even the Crean guys have been under Archie for 3 years now. He doesn't have to play those guys. Indiana better watch it. They are losing a generation of fans. Purdue and Butler are currently better than this sh!t show of a program. Fans near New Albany root will root for Louisville and fans up north have their choice of Purdue or Michigan. The thing is, outside of TJD I'm not excited about this roster. Justin and Al are who they are right now. Role players playing way too much. Rob Phinisee has regressed. I don't know if it's the injury or what. Brunk is extremely limited and he too plays way too much. Miller will get a year four unless it really hits the fan (which it might). He better get some help in the grad transfer market. It is almost like when Crean got Zeller or Bryant. IU needs another difference maker. One last thing...I went to Archies press conference in March of 2017. I'll never forget seeing the players walk out of the tunnell to their seats. They looked like zombies. None of them looked excited at all about the new coach. Granted, Devonte and De'Ron were the only current players there. But still, this team just doesn't respond to him.

When I speak about IU bball to people here in this crap state of Illinois, they see passion like they haven't seen before. They look at me when I'm talking like a deer in headlights. THAT is why this is so hard for us IU fans. It's a deep love for the game and program that people will just never understand. When you care about something, emotions tend to run high. Unfortunately it seems we care more than the players, coaches and university as a whole.

  10. Another way to look at it. Michigan is in a better spot with Howard in year 1 than Archie in year 3, both on the court and recruiting. The only programs we are 100% better than right now is Nebraska and Northwestern. Can’t recruit and can’t coach and can’t inspire. Wow. Honestly, what do we hope for? I wasn’t a fan of this hire, but he won me over a little during his press tour. Then landing Romeo. I was converted. But now knowing he isn’t a great recruiter, that’s the Miller advantage. Without it, you get what we are seeing. It’s really a crapshoot, hoping Archie will be better next year. The preseason mags had us right this year, next year we will be preseason 9-11. Nothing left to do but endure it and all it’s misery. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners

  15. I'm just torn. I want to give Archie time. You look at Beilein and Bennett, their first years were not that great. However, the lack of effort just bothers me. There are no adjustments made by the coaching staff. Archie had two scholarships for this year. The players are out there. At the minimum, Archie needs to bring in new assistants for next year. Some change has to be made.

It's the IU way, can't judge a coach before 4 or 5 years; they gotta have a chance to completely screw things up. Then you have a ready excuse for the next guy. Rinse and repeat.

  17. The one thing I’ll say: Though it’s unlikely, if Belien was ever interested in a role like Phil Martelli currently has at Michigan, that’d be quite a home run.

  18. Pass. If Archie doesn’t work out, want to work toward finding a different guy that has the potential of staying for 25 years.

  19. This probably will be unpopular here, but I've got no interest in Beilein. Not now. Not anymore. The story goes that we had him all but signed, sealed and delivered back in 2006, but Adam Herbert put the kibosh on it because he wanted a black coach (and mistakenly thought Sampson is black). Whether that's true or not, I have no idea. Back then, I'm 100 percent in. Not anymore. There's a reason he left Michigan, and I think it's this: He didn't want to be chasing down 16- and 17-year olds and trying to persuade them to come play for him. He's pretty long in the tooth -- 67 -- and I think is at the end of the line in coaching. He just wanted to coach and had enough of the recruiting and all the other stuff that comes with college ball. And if there's already discussion about leaving the Cavs after a half-season? I just sense his heart isn't in it anymore. Besides, after the 2006 debacle, would he even want to come here? Like the title of the old teenage novel: That Was Then, This Is Now.

  20. Glass should be brought in this morning and be informed his hire was bad, he will not be involved in hiring the new coach and he can retire immediately or we will escort you from the building. Then begin proceedings to hire the new AD and organize a search committee for the new HC behind the scenes of course. That is how any serious program would handle this. That is the real world.

This. It's not always about Ws and Ls, you can look good in an L and bad in a W; I can handle a loss a lot easier if the team plays hard and doesn't quit at the first sign of adversity.

  24. I don't think people's primary complaint is the record. If the team fought hard every game but just came up short people would still be annoyed, but the pitchforks wouldn't be out for Archie. Instead, more often than not the team goes out there and plays like they couldn't care less. It's been the case for the past two seasons. And when it happens in a home game against your biggest rival when your estranged GOAT coach comes back for the first time in 20 years, people will be completely done with you. If you can't get your team ready to play on an afternoon like that then you might as well pack your bags and leave town.

  31. IMO, everything regarding the roster and on-court product is HIS responsibility. Sure, the Crean players and recruits probably wouldn't have been Archie recruits and I don't consider them to be great players by any stretch, but he plays them for a reason and that is they are as good or better than anyone else he has. The offense is disorganized and hard to watch. The defense doesn't appear to be compatible with the players on the roster and gives up a lot of open looks. Frequently the team is out-hustled. Terrible shooters dominate the roster (3-pt, FT, can't finish). Honestly, the areas of failure span the entire report card - there's just too many things to have confidence that things will improve appreciably. Sadly, the only passing grades would be in the area of off-court behavior and academics. Given the circumstances, CAM and his staff had 3 routes to success: 1. Teach the current players to play a system and play it well, including the areas of decision making and motivation. i.e. "coach em up". 2. Recruit the kind of players that can do the things required, and do them well. Whoever, and how many are needed to have a winning team. 3. Modify his offensive and defensive systems to suit the existing players and/or the recruits he does successfully bring in. Sadly and honestly, I have to say that we're 0-3 at this point with no clear path to achieving any of them in the near future.

So to make sure our negativity is being directed accurately. Over the last 5 losses we have been 28-75 shooting the three ball. Lack of shooting isn’t causing these losses. Optional effort, Stupid line ups, terrible FT shooting and good old fashion terrible finishing around the rim is causing these losses.

  33. Assembly Call.... "It was bafflling how Indiana would feed the post to Brunk, who continued to struggle as he missed numerous point-blank layups and went 3-10 from the field. Every time Brunk gets the ball in the post, its like a black hole because he rarely passes out of it, which when he is not connecting on shots, thats not the best offensive option." True story.

  36. Archie will get another year. New AD, likely new president, and anyone who's responsible for those decisions will let HIS recruits become upper classmen. Glass won't fire him, nor will any new AD. Not yet, anyway. And if it's Chris Reynolds or Scott Dolson, they won't feel the need to....but both will keep a keen eye on the pulse of things. Today's defense was horrendous. The effort and execution on that end were about as bad as I can remember this season. Seriously...how many times are you going to guard a high ball screen with a hard hedge with a slow guy (Davis or Brunk), then allow a slip to the unprotected rim? No help, horrible rotations, no talk....and seemingly no learning. I also don't understand the philosophy of making Brunk your offensive go to early. If HE's your primary post, TJD has a long way to go before even considering the NBA as an option. What did Brunk take, 6 of our first 10 shots or something? Some of that is on the players. Some on coaches. I'm starting to question players I had faith in earlier this fall. That said, I can't imagine how difficult it would be to coach a kid like Green. From what he did on Thursday to a 1 for 7 performance....and that's his pattern. That's maddening. I was unimpressed with everyone but Durham. I know DDavis had some points, but how in the hell does Indiana get out rebounded 37-21? (Brunk and DDavis 3 rebounds between them in 35 minutes) How does Indiana assist on only 7 of 28 made FG's? Are we all of a sudden an iso team with not enough players who can iso or create? How does Indiana have only 7 TO's and manage to lose by 24? The shooting is another issue, and it's so bad it's embarrassing. I know one former walk on who would be - by FAR - the best shooter on this team, and it's a complete no contest. Good Lord, can we find a kid on this team who can consistently make shots? This entire team is mercurial, and it's getting tired. Archie isn't going anywhere yet, however he had better figure out a way to get these kids to buy in, or he'll be on a very hot seat a year from now. I still say a whole lot of this is on the players.

  37. Woj is reporting that Beilein and the Cavs are looking to part ways. If a big donor wanted to fork over the $$ to make a change after the season, that would be a big upgrade. I get Beilein just turned 67, but he could get this program back on track. Heck hire him and have him hire the HC in waiting as an assistant. I have said I’m not giving up on Archie, but if the opportunity arises to get who would be the top coach in the conference, you do it.

  39. I doubt Beilein would come here, and even more doubtful of the administration doing what it would take to land him. I'm not sure our shooting woes are entirely on the players, it wasn't unusual for Miller's Dayton teams to have the same problem and they pretty well always sucked at the line.

  43. I hope nobody seriously thinks Beilein will ever coach here. In fact, I'd say there's a better chance Archie Miller is still the coach two years from now than Beilein ever getting a chance. This university is so PC about everything, the "thugs" incident alone would probably make them steer clear; along with the thought that he might actually...(gasp)...win games and get popular or something.
