Found this on Bleacher Report. Similar to what others are saying,  no idea on the reliability of the source. It .

That would be really childish, and if true he shouldn't get a buyout for quitting.

Hope not!  Who actually cares!!!   The dude came in puffing his king like chest out and had a sense of entitlement, pitted fans against fans, constantly blamed players, etc etc.  I don’t care if he ever comes back.  He can go on an endless quest to find the hump, if all I care!
He was beyond toxic for this program. Good riddance.

Serious question: Will Woody ever come back to Bloomington?

He has more in common with Bob Knight than I thought.

Given his ego, he'll put himself in the same category as Bob Knight. A former great IU coach that was wronged by the administration and not set foot in Bloomington for decades.

Student callers on Hysterics livespace says they've talked to a team manager, who said:

"Woody was told he was going to be forced to retire yesterday. Today Woody walked in and said "I'm done - I quit."

"Kenya Hunter will take over the team."

Well doesn't that save the University $8M?
