Just a reminder that no matter how good you are in the minors you might not be able to scale in the pros.

Archies gimmick worked against teams that were filled with players that could shoot or were great athletes. Didn’t work against players that were both

No wonder he didn't make changes, it had to look incredible in practice.

Archie’s failure at IU will always fascinate me. How does a guy who seemed like a near perfect hire end up being such a dud. His personality, his offense, his player development. Duds all around.

Why did he seem like a near perfect fit? All the things you described that were bad about him, has been him his entire career. He didn’t just lose his personality when he arrived in Bloomington. His teams were always poor shooters etc

Miller had issues, both personally and schematically, that contributed to his failure in Bloomington.

But, none of it was remotely gimmickry.

That may be true after a bit but initially most of this board felt we had the best staff in college Bball. I certainly like this staff but I think we tend to get too excited as fans and forget we were just as excited about the guys we now think we’re the opposite

I called BS when people were saying that 4 years ago. I did not see any validity in any of that.

This staff is off to a fast start, retaining important players and adding a ton of guys that will all be fighting for starting roles.

I feel waaaaayyyyyy more confident in this staff to get things done

I agree. Would be really interesting to do a “post-mortem” to see if we can figure out exactly what went wrong and why.

Anitra House Returns to Indiana as the Assistant to the Head Coach

A relationship that began in 1976 when Mike Woodson first came to the IU campus will be rekindled as Anitra House will assume the role of Assistant to the Head Coach for the men's basketball program.

A native of southern Indiana who graduated from Silver Creek High School, she earned a bachelor's degree in secondary education/social studies and a master's degree in reading. She has completed coursework for a Doctorate and has finished all but her dissertation in language education.

House first began her association with IU Athletics in 1974 as a tutor under Buzz Kurpius who was hired as an Assistant Football Coach for Academics in 1974-75.  She began tutoring Woodson in 1976 as he became the first person in his family to earn a college degree. She worked under Kurpius from 1974-79 as a tutor and joined the department full-time in November, 1979 as a member of the Academic Services office.

As their area took on more responsibilities, her role expanded and culminated with experience as a learning specialist, certifying eligibility, and athletic financial aid. She created and maintained an athletics database to facilitate eligibility, financial aid, and NCAA/Big Ten federal reporting including graduation rates.

She retired from her position as Director of Eligibility and Systems in 2014.

Love this.

That kid is going to be a great HC one day.

Anyone see a better article about where he has been and what he has done. I see some of the names he has worked with but was he working directly with them as a trainer, as an assistant somewhere?

I know he worked for one the best AAU teams. Can't remember which one but the one Thomas Bryant played for.

He was an intern and then assistant under Chris Brickley at BlackOps. He worked with most of those guys as an assistant with Brickley

Edit: Also Brickley was a player development coach with the Knicks during Woodson’s last 2 yrs as a HC there. So that’s where the connection likely comes from
