He’s a doofus, but he’s 100% correct here. Don’t overthink it and roll with Beard. I know there’s a lot of “we wouldn’t hire him before the DV incident so we definitely won’t now” but there’s a scenario where that isn’t the case. Maybe that was his rock bottom moment and he’s a changed man, idk. That’s what the interview process is for, but that’s a scenario where he could be a seen as a legitimate candidate now when he wasn’t before.

Not saying Goodman doesn't have sources but stating Coach X won't be IU's next coach takes zero knowledge of what is happening, literally every person on the planet minus one will not be the next IU basketball coach.

  An easy way to sound more informed than one actually is, is to state as fact  unlikely names as absolutely out. Chances are he is correct and sounds connected, if he ends up being wrong, it's easy to say things quickly changed, or my source was mistaken.

McCollum?  Can he win here.  That was the discussion.  No more no less.  
 

Beard?  Extreme vetting to satisfy or disqualify.  They care about the situation, and not the loudest 5% against.  No more, no less.  
 

Any talk of x candidate being certain or disqualified today I would say is premature in any strong direction.  I am not saying others aren’t still involved, but those names were the convo.  It is still not that deep.

Or just hire Will Wade who is 10 years younger, a better recruiter, plays a more exciting brand of basketball, and more importantly…hasn’t attacked his wife.

IU is very seriously considering Chris Beard. I’m not saying it’s a done deal. But people saying they won’t do it are just wrong. He is very much a candidate and at this point very much at the top of the list. I would say the reason it wouldn’t be Beard at this point is that he gets a better offer than that IU doesn’t offer.
