He appears to commit a lot to IU. Great to have him in the stable of big donors! Just proof that cars are way overpriced. :) Loyola Chicago had a big car dealer as a supporter. Been thinking about Beard a bit the last couple of days and I think dude could be at Ole Miss for a while. How many jobs are out there that: 1) are really gonna seriously consider him, 2) have an AD that is either in enough trouble to take the gamble or so secure that they can, 3) have a culture that would make him a sell to their money guys, and 4) are a job Beard would consider a real step up. I can’t think of many situations like that. He wouldn’t be in play at UNC or KU. Oregon if Altman retires? Can’t see that. Florida if Golden moves up? Maybe, I guess, but I doubt it. If OSU moved on from Diebler? Would he view that as a step up? The 1 job I keep landing on, assuming he keeps himself together, is Arkansas when Cal retires, but that’s probably 3 years out. Really not sure what’s out there for him. lillurk, thebigweave, go iu bb and 2 others 5

But I would also think signing the extension, making those statements, and then later “changing your mind” to take your dream job for an offer you can’t refuse is way more comfortable than not signing the extension and having to constantly deal with the speculation as he’s trying to close out a potentially very successful season. Popular Post bigrod Posted February 22 Popular Post Posted February 22 Only my personal opinion, but I think IU already has their coach. Take that for what it's worth, but my feeling is that May has been told and that is why he signed an extension. As others have said, things aren't making a lot of sense right now. Scott is still doing his due diligence, but why has all the information suddenly stopped flowing? Maybe I'm delusional or it's just wishful thinking, but I think things aren't making much sense right now for a reason. Scott has been conducting this search for over a year now, IMO. This is what Dusty said just after signing a 10 year extension at FAU…. "I love it here. I love our players, I love our staff, and the only thing I've been focused on since the beginning was doing the best job for our team," May told CBS Sports two days before FAU played in the Final Four. Popular Post WayneFleekHoosier Posted February 22 Popular Post Posted February 22 TJ ******* Otzelberger Also, this notion of the “fishbowl” “be in front of the fans” “sell” is mostly crap. The AD “Sells” the program and they kick @$$ with that. They’ve sold every off season we’ve ever had.Fishbowl? Get real. We are a program starving for success. Get someone that can get a top 15 winner and the fans start making songs about how amazing you are. Imo easy benchmark to clear because of lack of recent success plus/compared to resources. “Be in front of fans”. Nah. Just be likeable and be able to talk basketball and be genuinely passionate about the job. That’s all. Woody and Archie have set the bar so low, someone can come in and be the hero.
