My dad and I talk IU hoops fairly often, and he asked me who I thought and I told him May. I think he’s the most possible and it seems like IU could have had him last year, but our good ole Quinn squashed it. My money is on May.

I like it... but we have many more sleeps before we find out anything concrete...

Oh for sure. It’s gonna a long 3-4 weeks coming up lol. I’m already exhausted from the coaching search, but it could also be the lack of sleep from having our 3rd kiddo a few months ago.

So Pitino was vouching hard for Beard this morning?  Apparently said he’d have us top 5 almost every year.  It’s just such a perfect fit you know the Indiana administration will muck it up.

I'm of the opinion that Dusty will take the job so I don't think it will get past Dusty...but if for some reason it does, pending background check, I'm on the Beard train. You cannot go from Option A/B to option F. Beard will win at Indiana.

As @WayneFleekHoosier has been saying this all sure seems to point to Dusty. The extension still looming, the buyout, the ties and the comments at the presser. The most intriguing of those comments was when he said he hasn't even talked about the job "besides with family" or something very close to that. So haven't talked about it except with the most important people in his life. I'm at about 90% certain it'll be May and I'm cool with that.

That’s exactly who I think it is and if it is, I win the bet over chris007!  Lol

The other piece here, and i know you're not buying the smokescreen stuff, just bringing up hypotheticals, but there was no reason for Brad Stevens to put out a smokescreen.

Why would he even do that? Nobody is even talking about Stevens coming to IU except for the IU fan bubble.

This isn't even a blip on the Boston media radar. It's not a blip with the Celtics fan accounts on Twitter. It's not a blip on the NBA's media radar. IU media brings it up here and there, but mostly only to squash it.

There was no reason for Stevens to put out a smokescreen. Boston media was not asking him about this.

A world of fantasy, amazing how resilient it is

Interesting take - I agree Beard would be an incredible coach. That said, I get all the feedback on his personal issues. However, people can change and can rebound. We're not a perfect species. Maybe get the guy some help in his personal life (which he'd have to be willing to do) and make the role specific to his engagement/commitment to whatever the agreed to criteria is. I mean, we don't want someone who prays too much. We don't want someone who doesn't pray enough....we're a pretty selective bunch. Hate to tell you, but Brad Stevens spoke at length about his faith at my church. Should he no longer a candidate? Many say Woodson is complete lush and I have first hand stories about that part of his life....he just hasn't been caught. I can't defend Beard's domestic abuse, but know that most abusers were abused themselves and need help.

I don't think anybody doesn't want Drew because he's religious. People are saying he won't come here because IU isn't. They're saying the Drew's are the ones who don't see the fit. And people have been complaining about Woodson's vino consumption for a while now lol

Kevin Young is at BYU because of his connections to the Suns and he's getting tons of NIL money at BYU. He's not leaving

He's also mormon so he's right at home.

I didn’t know that either. He’ll probably have a nice long career there than I guess. Anyways, I sure hope it’s Dusty May because it just seems like a perfect fit and I am putting all my eggs in that basket. Lol

Anything is plausible. Other angle is that he said nothing for months last time as hype around him continued to build, only for him to come out very late in the game and announce he isn’t interested in the job; he received quite a bit of flack for his handling of the situation.

getting out early and squashing it removes himself from that

IU could hire Beard then one crazy night out and we’re hiring a new coach in a year. When Pat Knight won’t vouch for you, then you’re in trouble.
What if that one crazy night was after winning a National Championship as IU coach....

Yeah I just don’t have it in me to strain my neck bending over backwards trying to rationalize the chain of events. Simplest explanation is probably the most likely… that he’s not a candidate…

We do know that Goodman was staying in Bloomington that week and hanging out with Dolson right. He was in town to cover the UCLA game.
