If that's truly what he said and Goodman just decided to write it how he wants, it definitely is not a deal breaker type quote.

Nope. Goodman may have been approached by the Celtics or Stevens to put out a short statement to put some fires out till he is officially ready. It’s just so matter of fact, short and sweet.
IMO, if I’m going to publicly separate myself from the IU coaching position once and for all, I’m going to release some more verbatim quotes to support this claim officially.

I think the odds of that are astronomically lower than last cycle. Then again, we ended up with Woody.

But IU has given fans very little reason to be optimistic about how the program is run.

Think the landscape is more favorable for us this go round. Let's hope for the best.

It has to be... I mean, how low can it go... we've seen the absolutely worst coach in the world selected last time around...

Here’s the thing. It’s a message board. Everyone knows they are filled with the most diehard of fans and rumors and speculation are the makeup of this type of medium. It’s also semi limited so opinions on players and coaches have some insulation.

If Tyme/AH wants to be mad at anyone he can be mad at himself and the IUAlliance Twitter burner army that all turned their images to brad Stevens inspired picture and incessantly posted Brad. Stevens. For 3 straight days on the biggest platform on the planet.

Be mad at them if you have to be mad at someone. This includes Tyme/AH himself.

But, who cares really. It’s fans having fun that maybe it can be Brad Stevens. Each person can choose to believe it as much as they want.

When the coaches and players finally start doing their job and winning at a high level people will be less inclined to believe in “fairytales” to stay connected to one of their biggest passions.

This is where I’m at. It’s fun and people can believe what they want to but in the end most of the time the info turns out to be false. If people want to believe that that is their prerogative. It does give the board life and excitement, no matter how based in reality it is.

This is how I view the situation.  Stevens never said that he wasn’t a candidate for the job.  It’s common **** to say that you love where you’re at in the present time.  Nothing from yesterday implies that he’s out of consideration.  It’s the furthest thing from it.

I was waiting for someone to point this out. Goodman tweets, and a bunch of day old accounts show up to tell everyone how stupid they are. Imagine thinking Brad Stevens being a long shot was some galaxy brained secret to which only they were privy and smart enough to understand lmfao. The arrogance is almost impressive.

“Brad Stevens is never coaching at IU,” we told you so! Thanks Nostradamus, really going out on a limb with that prediction, gtfoh.

I was out for dinner and came back to find the board overtaken by a bunch of new accounts dunking on the Stevens to IU possibility. Seeing @WayneFleekHoosiers post about all the twitter accounts changing their picks made some good points about why Goodman would reach out to Stevens camp. Twitter is a big platform and I am not sure if Stevens IU was trending prior to Goodmans tweet but there were enough burners with his picture and just tweeting his name that now it seems as if they were trying to force a reaction. We get a mild one and boom they infest this site .

Cronin has had a really good run as well and is one of the top coaches in the sport. Certainly better than our last two coaches by a significant amount.

Cronin is a very good coach.  Imo he is a high floor, low ceiling guy.  Which might be what IU needs.  I think he would consistently make the tournament here which is something we have lacked since the middle of Tom Crean's tenure.  He's just not very likeable.  We can do much worse than Mick Cronin.  I'm just hoping we can still do better.

This is what everyone is freaking out about? As @Artie86 said, that quote is far from him denying being a candidate and the only source of every article claiming that BS is out.

So if Goodman actually talked personally with and got Stevens to say the above quote, why would he not ask him,"So are you not a candidate for the job?" Or did he and the above quote was the response?

Everything after this quote about not being a candidate is not a quoted  statement and not even something Goodman's  has the balls to claim as his own thoughts, but rather "sources say."

I don't know what the chances are or have been that Brad Stevens will coach IU, but this vanilla non denial is a giant leap to go to him saying he is not a candidate.

Well that and also this apparent DM exchange:

Don’t think you are. I take NOTHING as fact or lies. Just opinion and  information . I say to Chris 007 and all others to keep bringing it, I’m intelligent enough to make my own deductions. Only time will reveal the next Coach.

Bottom line post:  we are adults able to make our conclusions.  Anyone telling you what you are required think can piss off.

I’m not ignoring football, but he’s not hiring a football coach. Everything basketball-related has been a disaster during his tenure. He’s got good PR with the “I wasn’t allowed to do my job” stuff, but at the end of the day, he’s the AD. The buck stops with him. The “they didn’t let me do my job” stuff just tells me he’s a yes men who’s afraid to make waves.

To be fair, everything basketball-related has been a disaster for the past 25-30 years... there a lot of ADs who continued the downward spiral in that time frame... not defending Scott Dolson, per se,  but hasn't been the only AD who's failed to rebuild/restore basketball at IU.

observation:1.  If BS. Kinda has it made in Boston making enough money where it’s a non issue and just living it out there.

  2.  #1…If IU is throwing the farm at him much more money etc than what he is making in Boston and he can return to his roots and take on a new challenge and it’s fun so to speak for him he could put his unfinished mission in the college game.

conclusion:  Great to be in at the very least a win win situation….Pre-welcome to IU.

I imagine Mick will be available soon.  When UCLA fires him for not winning enough.
