You can make solid arguments either way.  For me, if it's not an existing NCAA coach, let it rip.  Let potential targets - high school and portal - know who they could be playing for ASAP.  Let potential assistant coaches start backchanneling their interest in being considered as an IU assistant.   Only people living in the deepest part of Alaska think Woody truly retired - no, I'm not including you @ALASKA HOOSIER in that statement.  People that follow the program know that he brought it all on himself.

Just for my own mental sanity I agree.  If they have a deal and can get it signed, announce it ASAP.  I just have a hard time seeing it happening.

Hmm. Interesting day of drilling and filling, now Brad Stevens talk gaining credibility.

What a time to be a Hoosier.

The one thing I rest easy with, is I think we continue to swing for fences if it’s not Brad.

But the other thing….talks of games next year with Marquette/KSU without a coach in place doesn’t seem like the normal way of things. Maybe the most intriguing aspect of the day.

I think if it is Brad, announcing as soon a possible works to our advantage. I mean why would you want to wait, tell the world, guys that might be thinking portal need to know this to help them decide if and where! Of course, if it is him and he wants to delay any announcement you have to honor that request!

Don’t get me wrong, anybody wanting Stevens for this gig, I get it, of course. But anyone not wanting this guy, yeah, that I don’t get. And if you watch this, maybe the next guy after him gets a mention….

And upend this ridiculous media narrative. The Woody pity party has been nauseating. I had friends with no knowledge of IU asking “why did your coach decide to retire?”
