DeVries is a really good coach and this tier was always the most likely one. We pulled a sitting P5 coach! People wanted that. He’s young and comes with a great roster. This is a very good hire. A great hire IMO.

It it sounds like Devries met with IU and also met with Iowa recently. It sounds like Dolson "retired" Woody w/o having a coach in his back-pocket. 

 

I imagine that's correct. The Stevens stuff was such nonsense past shear due diligence. Dolson most likely spent the last 12 months profiling what he wanted for program leadership and doing some investigation into candidate fits who might be available. The search firm then filled in the blanks for him and when 1 of the guys he identified became available prematurely, thank you UNC AD, Dolson jumped. I don't see how that's not really, really good.

Nobody knew. He tried for the whales but was told pretty quickly they weren’t interested. DDV probably became a real option only in the last 2-3 days and he changed up his plans and put the full court press. 
I assume the firm did the pre-work on him beforehand.

I want our next coach to do what Oats did at Alabama.  They are a top 10 team over and over and over again.  Do I think Devries can do this at Indiana.  Nope. Oh well. I guess we will be better than with Woodson.  Maybe.  Not even convinced of that.  
 

3 million at WV vs 5 million for Woody.  Basically had an equivalent year.  I don’t see the extra 2 million being the difference at all.

It was sent to me that Trilly said they were finalizing terms. i Assumed it was accurate.
