Just kind of talking out loud. If you were to ask me who the better coach Is between McCollum and DeVries, I’d probably say short term DeVries for his recruiting and power 5 experience. Long term I think McCollum . I believe he will be a top 10 coach in college basketball someday. I was never crazy of his slow style offense, but after watching them last night, I wonder if that’s something he will alter as he gets better talent.  DeVries had a good record, but no runs in the tournament like my man crush Dusty May. I’m optimistic but wonder how these three guys look 5 years down the road.

I was at first really impressed with Drake last night until I couldn't figure out why Missouri kept pressuring so far out from the basket  which just enabled their passing and cutting. It was what Drake was doing as much as what Missouri was doing. All Drake had to do was read where help side came from and pass there then wait for a cutter after terrible defensive rotations 24 feet from the basket guarding non shooters. It's not that I wasn't impressed by Drake as much as I was baffled at the coaching decisions of Missouri. Missouri was long and athletic compared to Drake. Why chase? Guard the 3 point line but also kind of pack it and make Drake's guy beat them 1:1. Missouri dominated offensively in the second half, but they just could stop Drake from getting layups. Stay packed in, help from the corners and make them hit contested shots from the corners with length and speed running out at them. IDK maybe it's just me.

This times a thousand. I was baffled by the pressure by Missouri, nearly out to half court.

I was not impressed by the "adjustments" made by Gates. I mean, what did he adjust on D? Just back off of Drake. What would've been hard about that? Why guard them all the way out to half court?

Here is an article from Thanksgiving time about CDD and his family adjusting to Morgantown.  I expect something like this in a few months about his life in Bloomington.  It says that he lived in a hotel for 3 months till they sold their house and got their new one, so they might be doing the same now.  And it looks like their daughter will be a sophomore and plays volleyball and basketball.  Seems like a down to Earth guy.

I can remember some of Knights teams taking some *** whooping's back in the day.  It seemed like some of them where on purpose at times to let them know if they don't listen and do what they want this is the outcome.  Teaching moment so to speak.

Not sure that is what this is but sometimes a good whooping opens your eyes to make you better.

1994, Minnesota shellacked us by 50. Knight just sat there and let it happen.

Connect with the patriarchs and well-ragarded high school coaches in the state. Win them over and you'll have all of the intel you need on the players to recruit in the area. Don't forget that's where your breads buttered and jump on the in-state 2027 group. A lot of talent there.
