Crazy about IU Posted April 2, 2025 Posted April 2, 2025 20 hours ago, RaceToTheTop said: I am a little bit surprised how much shorter the visits players are taking everyone now. Conwell rolls in yesterday night, leaves this morning, goes to Louisville this morning, likely leaves tonight, and then off to Texas. Dix has had quite a few visits now that seem to be under 24 hours. Probably because it’s more about the money than anything else.doesn’t take long to find out how much money you can make. Quote

He's an all-league caliber player. I don't think there would be as much doom and gloom as there is now if he had a different last name. DD will need to be able to win recruiting battles against other top schools to succeed at IU. Tucker, while a great player, tells us nothing about DD’s ability to win those battles because he’s DD’s son. If he had a different last name then of course the feeling around here would be a lot different because it’d be a big recruiting win and a sign of DD’s recruiting chops, rather than a kid following his dad. I think he’s a guard that could take a big leap as a Jr. 8.8 as a Freshman and now 13.0 as a sophomore. Definitely needs to improve 3pt shooting only 30 percent . Dix and Jizzle? He has been on one tournament team and they barely made the tournament. What does this mean then regarding Pack and IU? Are we checking out a few options that are better than him first then coming back and expecting him to still be there? CSP 1 Quote
Jeff Flabjohns Posted April 2, 2025 Posted April 2, 2025 Yeah he’s being very meticulous, which is 100% good. But it’s clear he wanted Conwell. Hopefully we didn’t lose him to UL because DDv didn’t want to match a 400k difference in NIL. Having a top-rated transfer class is important given he was able to achieve that last year and our empty roster. I trust him completely to not just throw $$ at “stars” like Woody. Having TDv hopefully healthy for the whole year already raises our floor—kid is obviously a helluva player. Home Jersey and HoosierSadaseci 1 1 Quote

He's lost a single portal battle for a player who I don't think is all that enthralled with IU to begin with. Conwell's been offered plenty of money to attend IU spanning two different staffs and has chosen elsewhere both times. I want guys that want to be here. I’m guessing his dis-interest in previous cycles was motivated heavily by the coach and offensive philosophy. It’s been negatively recruited against repeatedly and I’d estimate we’ve lost several guys because of it. No way to really know though of course. Henryville Hoosier 1 Quote

If IU wasn't throwing a bunch of money in his face, I doubt he'd even consider. Not every kid from Indy dreams of playing for IU, especially ones that are 18-22 years. Good point AH1971, maybe he grew up hearing lots of negative IU chatter similar to a lot of Purdue sentiment on here and he’s biased against IU. thebigweave 1 Quote
Popular Post the_jackal Posted April 2, 2025 Popular Post Posted April 2, 2025 Make no mistake about it, DeVries wanted Conwell and wants Dix (pause). Conwell was a miss, but the kid has never liked IU. Grew up in a Purdue household and even being an Indy kid, putting 'INDIANA' across his chest has never meant a thing to him. Dix wants to come to IU, but has some family things that are far more important and could win out in the end. It's all about the system and who fits. Grabbing the top names mean nothing if they don't fit the new system, and what I love about DeVries is he isn't willing to waver or make exceptions to that. 'The process is the process.' Let is play out. We should be announcing our new assistants this week, and a couple talented players will be following them soon after. We will have a roster that fits by late-April Jim IV22, mark1981, JustWinBaby and 26 others 27 2 Quote

Trish Posted April 2, 2025 Posted April 2, 2025 What's the amount Indiana Basketball receive in revenue sharing? $16 million - Indiana Football $ 6 million - Indiana Basketball $1 million < remaining amount - Indiana Women's Basketball? Starting July 1st, collectives can't be used to pay players going forward. However, they can have private NIL to athletes. Quote
