  1. Wild how this staff keeps things so under the radar, main media outlets don't pick up stuff until it's happening or already happened. a few players visiting this week/end, including a couple bigs, but will let those names be shared when media gets them. Seems apparent the staff doesn't want it widely known until they're on campus
  2. Another one here soon. Huge pickup
  3. Make no mistake about it, DeVries wanted Conwell and wants Dix (pause). Conwell was a miss, but the kid has never liked IU. Grew up in a Purdue household and even being an Indy kid, putting 'INDIANA' across his chest has never meant a thing to him. Dix wants to come to IU, but has some family things that are far more important and could win out in the end. It's all about the system and who fits. Grabbing the top names mean nothing if they don't fit the new system, and what I love about DeVries is he isn't willing to waver or make exceptions to that. 'The process is the process.' Let is play out. We should be announcing our new assistants this week, and a couple talented players will be following them soon after. We will have a roster that fits by late-April
  4. Too many to name, but the hub, taj, galaxie, saints, oshea's (all 3 of them), gerstles, tin roof, fox den, flanagans, garage bar, molly malones, west sixth, and several more right next to the Yum center like troll pub, merle's, barrel bar, etc. also higher end cocktail bars like Neat, last refuge, nada nada, hell or high water, north of bourbon, copper & kings, hotel genevieve, gerties. Didn't know much about Louisville before moving there but i was impressed with their food/bar options
  5. Have lived in all 3, all were great for various reasons. Louisville was my favorite, but mainly due to the food scene, bars, bourbon and horse racing. Rainey St in Austin used to be awesome, but that area's gotten dangerous nowadays. Bloomington the best true college scene of the 3 by far. Living in any of these 3 cities/towns as a 20-something millionaire would be great lol
  6. I'm not sure there, but i trust DeVries more than myself (and a hell of a lot more than Woody) when it comes to roster construction and getting the pieces to fit together
  7. He has a spot to come be on the staff if he wants it, but no guarantees there. He and Nick Davidson are very close, and would put IU in the driver's seat if he indeed joins DeVries' staff
  8. As Chris mentioned, Stevens was never a yes. Asked and said no, multiple times. once DeVries became the top contender, the only other coach who was contacted for 1 final 'ya sure?' was Jay Wright. As Chris also mentioned, time to move on. We got our guy and by all accounts we got a great one
  9. if it's DeVries, I implore you all to give him a chance before jumping to conclusions. let's see his product on the floor and what he can do in year 1, i think he will surprise the doubters but that's just my opinion. i will be celebrating with some very old, very expensive bourbon. i feel like for the first time in years, we have a legit coach who understands the current landscape of CBB
  10. This has been the wildest coaching search i've seen. a lot of misinformation all around and too many twists to keep up with. If it ends up being DeVries, we are getting ourself a hell of a coach. WVU this year was 20th in overall defense, and 9th in the country in defending the 3P, he also really emphasizes 3s over 2s (WVU attempted 849 3s compared to IU's 632). His brand of basketball is modern, and very different than Archie/Woody ball we are accustomed to. He'd also bring his son, and most likely Stone, Amani, and Powell with him. He knows how to work the portal. Not sure why people are questioning whether or not he'd be a good hire - i'm guessing because everyone wanted the grand slam hire, myself included. But he'd be the best hire since Sampson
  11. I'd say this is the correct read on where it's at. very few people know what's going on, myself included as i'm just relaying 2nd/3rd hand info. also active coaches can sign contracts elsewhere, just entails a breach of contract and agreeing to the amount owed for buyout by the new university as most (if not all) college coaches are considered 'at-will' employees by the state. someone correct me if i'm wrong on that though as it may vary state to state
  12. I believe we have our guy, and a deal is signed. I honestly don't know who it is, but was told 'we have our coach'. If I had to guess at this specific hour I would guess McCollum but that is a legit guess on my end. would guess we will all know the name officially or see the 'zeroing in on' tweets in the next few days
  13. I remain very, very confident it won't be Brownell
  14. It's an ode to my grandfather. He passed from Alzheimer's and used to sign his notes off with his name so he'd remember he wrote them. Not trying to be obnoxious but i appreciate the note Have a good one all and Go Hoosiers
  15. Yes, we were in deep talks until Drew got promises of more NIL at Baylor. funny that you responded to my DM saying everything you've heard from those you trust around campus is it will be Drew too. I gave 5 names, Stevens (don't refute we inquired, but he directly said NO again), Drew (mutual interest til there wasn't), Otz (mutual interest til there wasn't), Mccollum (speaking to him now), and Beard (fully vetted and said no to him). We don't have a coach signed yet. I don't know who the next coach will be at this hour because no coach has been selected by Scott. Since it's known the 5 coaches i mentioned had or since have been spoken to/vetted, would love for someone to tell me where exactly my info was wrong at the time. It appears my info has been the only credible info provided to this board in weeks, which was Scott's original list of names - Jackal
  16. Lol. this did make me laugh, well done. - Jackal
  17. One of the guys who you think signed an NDA is my source. he didn't sign an NDA, no idea who told you that but i wouldn't trust whoever did. just hope the next coach is given a legit chance when it's not BS - Jackal
  18. Stevens was never a real thing, i feel bad for those who believed it. I understand wanting to believe it, we are fans after all, but it was never going to happen. Mccollum shows every sign of having what it takes to be a great coach. the biggest tell to me is that other coaches (May, Mccasland, Buzz and others) actually call him for his thoughts on their system and how he'd improve it. when successful coaches are calling him for Xs and Os advice, thats big. i would bet for him to win big wherever he lands next, and i'd prefer it's at IU instead of Iowa. But again, takes 2 to tango. will see if he wants the job. if he goes Iowa, i would happily take Devries as our next coach. I love Alan Huss, he will win big somewhere too, just not a candidate this go around for IU for whatever reason. hope we aren't here again in 4-5 years, but if we are Huss should be at the top of the list then and wants the job - Jackal
  19. My stance hasn't changed. I would be shocked if it's Brownell. I don't think he'd be as bad a hire as people are trying to make him seem, i actually think he'd do well at IU with NIL and his ability to coach modern basketball/emphasize the 3 or shots at the rim. i just don't think he has ever been on Scott's short list of candidates and would have to be told 'no' several times (or choose not to pursue candidates after vetting) to get there. remember, Rabby's/media's sources are agents and those in AAU/college coaching circles. Scott and about 3-5 other people actually know what's going on. Let's wait and see who the hire is - Jackal
  20. I agree, should trust Scott. Dude is a very smart man, and believe me he wants IUBB to win and win big (why he wanted to run a full background on Beard just in case). he's a fan, manager under Knight and is currently in his dream job at the university he loves. he knew he needed to move on from Woodson in a way that wouldn't upset the few still in his corner, but did so knowing he didn't have a coach in waiting or 1 already signed up. he knew a late season run could happen and wanted to get ahead of that, pretty smart move looking back on it. Again, our next coach could still be any of the names on his original list. or could be someone we aren't even talking about. he will do what he thinks is best for IUBB but it takes someone very confident in themselves to want this job as well - Jackal
  21. Mccollum was always going to get an interview, that's been the case for a while now. Some question him, which is understandable, but Scott really, really likes him and thinks he'd do well here. Has to be a 2-way street - meaning he would have to accept the job if offered - but Scott is talking to him - Jackal
  22. You may be right, we will see. only said he was being vetted so don't need to go throwing away your IU fandom card just yet I don't want brownell, such a meh hire. but i do like watching his teams play, does more with less and a fun offense to watch (most shots are 3s or at the rim). just hope we do much, much better. very much a mark pope or pat kelsey type of hire Any way, these threats of not being a fan any longer if we hire 'X' are always funny to me. you know you will still watch games and if the new coach wins you'll be back on the train quicker than a pick-pocketer on adderall - Jackal
