Since rumors/info/names were shared more freely last night, i feel comfortable sharing the names i heard were on Scott's list. The fact my 5 names are the 5 Rabby's heard (excluding brownell) makes me go hmm, but not in a good way ha. below is the list, with additional context on where my guy told me we were at with them, and he remains very convinced no coach has been hired or signed any paperwork. Also no NDAs involved whatsoever, lol Brad Stevens: has told us no twice as of last thursday. loves life in the NBA and his exact words "don't get your hopes up with Brad, he isn't coming". at the end of the day i'm just a fan like everyone else here, i see the rumors, flight tracking, and understand it's now or never for him this go around. i choose to continue hoping it's him until we hire someone else. Scott Drew: multiple conversations between Dolson and Drew's camp, and strong "mutual interest" on both sides. Rabby seems to think Drew is no longer on the table, so maybe somethings changed the last week. Otz: Scott having conversations with his camp and "mutual interest". didn't think it was as far down the line as talks were with Scott Drew at the time. Mccollum: at the vetting/gathering info stage, but seemed to think Scott really, really liked him and could do great at IU. Beard: at the gathering info/backgrounds stage. i still think he is a long shot personally, but fully trust this hire if they think it's worth it once vetted. these background searches (i've seen first hand) literally leave no stone unturned. they will have all the opportunity in the world to say 'yes' or 'no' to Beard once all info is obtained. coaching searches are funny. so much different info going around, it's hard to know what's real and what isn't and things change in an instant. great job to Scott on this search, he's making a lot of us look silly. i wouldn't be shocked if our new coach is a name not listed above, and sincerely hope it isn't Brownell. If it is, he better bring in 1 hell of a portal haul and win big year 1, the fanbase's patience with him will be very thin. Lastly, it's quite hypocritical that we finally have a President who understands the importance of Athletics, wants to win big in all major sports, is doing due diligent backgrounds on all viable candidates, and is met with disdain because she (1 of the few with actual information pertaining to Beard's background) would have the gall to actually consider him as a candidate to win big at IU. how about be happy we finally have a president who gets it and McRobbie isn't walking back through that door. I shared the names I heard with a few posters on here via DM. not sharing here. sorry to be vague but tipped my hand a bit too much under my previous username with the archie info and my guy found out and wasn't thrilled. he's also a family member who gives me insane amount of access to IU athletics, not someone i'm trying to piss off. Correct, i haven't heard anything since last thursday. almost a week and a lot can change in that timeframe. heard Stevens wants nothing to do with CBB, and loves life in the NBA, but money talks i guess. The sale of the celtics isn't a big deal to him, he wants to stay in boston but will have several NBA offers if he doesn't Think i will withhold my info moving forward. understand the skepticism but i see why people with actual info choose not to overshare - Jackal

I hope your, Chris, yeagley, AP, etc. source(s) are right and mine is wrong. sincerely do. i remember getting my hopes way up thinking it was going to be Billy D based on what insiders shared here just for it be Archie the whole time. trying to provide what info i'm hearing and allow posters to believe whatever they want to from there. guess we will see whose sources had better info in the coming weeks, hope it's yours - Jackal

Not trying to say he is a realistic option for this immediate search. as my guy put it "Dolson knows he can grab someone like Alan Huss at any time". he wasn't on the original list of names he mentioned. just said his name as an example of a guy we could hire if we hear 'no' from preferred options. just thought it was interesting he used his actual name as an example is all Don't want to ruin vibes on the Stevens train. was told he's said no twice already, but knowing Scott he will ask a 3rd time so i guess who really knows. The committee has done/is doing quite a bit of background work on Beard. No idea where that ultimately goes. alan huss is an interesting name. i think he's a little further down the list of candidates today, but an interesting name. No coach has signed any agreements, no coach has been hired to this point. still work to be don but some really good options - Jackal

I think McDermott is great, and think he would do very well at IU. Having said that, he isn't 1 of the 5 names i heard about yesterday. Other names I didn't hear: Brownell, Buzz, or Cronin (which surprised me) - Jackal

Directly connected to Dolson. Let's just say I speak regularly with someone who speaks with Dolson every day. 1 of the very, very few people who actually knows specific names he is targeting. Either this guy is giving me bad info on purpose about Stevens - honestly could be a smokescreen - or he gave me good info into the current landscape of the search. Used to go by a different name on this site but deleted that account. maybe Chris will remember, but I told him Archie would be the hire about a week before he was announced via DMs. Don't post on other boards, but have lurked here for a while. Don't want to be the bad guy, i want stevens just as much as everyone else and hope this is just bad info. figured i'd pass along what i heard yesterday - Jackal

this post will be met with skepticism, which is understandable. but it won't be Stevens. 100% confident on that. Dolson's current list is 3, he doesn't have his "man", but any of those 3 would be really strong hires. has plans D and E as well, names we've all heard but hope it doesn't get to them. Nothing announced until late march at the earliest. deep talks with 1 candidate in particular, a name i think would be just about universally liked, but nothing signed and won't be until his team is done - Jackal
