For those wondering if it really takes him off the board since the buyout went to only $7.5M, after reading this article I'd say yes.

"I think it makes it obvious: I'm staying at Michigan," May told CBS Sports, adding, "I really wasn't interested in leveraging in negotiating"

Other info from the article:

CBS Sports can exclusively report on the details of May's new contract terms:

  • A one-year extension on the deal, which now runs through the spring of 2030
  • An increase of $1 million annually in salary
  • A pay bump across the board for the Michigan men's basketball staff
  • A big increase investment for program resources, including Michigan's NIL war chest
  • A buyout that will rise to $7.5 million

We knew this would happen. Only 4 left from my top 5 of Beard, Drew, Pearl or Billy D. Who’s it gonna be?

If it makes the crowd feel better btb is taking this a lot better than peegs (laugh emoji)

They somehow are willing to pay Rabby money each month… not the sharpest bunch.

Just so I have this straight if we don’t get Chris Beard or Will Wade you are boycotting everything IU?

Has to be someone really good.  Yes.  Beard or Wade or someone I believe is extremely unlikely.  Yes.

If it’s not Steve Alford just go back to a guy who was high on last year’s list.

Josh Schertz turned Indiana State around in a couple years.  Indiana State played an exciting style of basketball and played hard.  He’s a baldy and give him NIL money.  He is a player’s coach.  Plus he’s smart.

Darnit I lost the bet to Chris, maybe!  If BS doesn’t become the coach, we can call it even. But darnit!!!
