Yeah, again, I think it's going to be "Brad Stevens has met with Indiana University about their upcoming vacant position. Talks are ongoing." Very similar to like Steichen being the Eagles OC while talking to the Colts...I don't think it officially "broke" until the day of the Super Bowl. Kellen Moore to the Saints is another example.

Maybe that leaks, but I really think Stevens is a total professional. He wants to keep a safe image for the university, himself, and Woodson. He's managed a very tight circle at Boston.

We have a verbal agreement. Still need contract signed. Likely will be signed tmw. That is why not today. I expect tmw to respond with "signed sealed delivered, I'm yours".

That means tomorrow is going to be miserable… if we don’t hear anything

Here is a summary of all the flight info we've been tracking since Wednesday.

I get flight info thrown at me from 3 different directions, and try to sort it out, so I am going to try and sort this out here.

We had 2 planes linked to Ned Pfau go to Opa-Locka on Wednesday. About the same time had a plane from Bedford, MA (where Brad and Celtics fly out of) going to Opa Locka. I've had several people tell me that Brad has a rep near Opa-Locka airport, so the assumption was that it was contract related.

Ned's plane then flew to Philly and has been there since Wednesday afternoon. It left this morning to go back to Opa, about the same time a plane from Bedford, MA was due in Philly. Now they missed each other by 15 minutes. Possible smoke screen, because Dolson knows we are tracking.

Then this final one popped up from Philly to Bloomington. No links to anyone, as it is a chartered jet.

You take all these together, and it is just an amazing set of coincidences, or is it involved? Hope that helps

I don’t understand the Philly connection though

My wife picked the wrong time to have a baby this weekend.

Here's to hoping they allow phones in the delivery room.

Plan on putting 'Brad' on the birth certificate.

West Virginia doing a decent job right now

He is doing a phenomenal job at West Virginia in his first year.   Lost his best player (his son) and still beat Kansas on  the road and 4 top 10 wins.   They have lost some recently but he can coach.   He would be in my list as well.

If this doesn't happen, some of you may have to go into witness protection haha.

Lmfao, oh we will see them in 4 years.  Maybe a different moniker, but yeah…. I feel like my parents and grandparents right now.  “They don’t make them like they used to”.  IU coaching searches or top recruitments aren’t for the faint of heart.

What has he won at the division 1 level that is unprecedented?

Beating Kansas St and Vandy on a neutral court.   Really good wins for a Program like Drake  nothing special just yet.   The argument against that would be he hasn’t had an opportunity to play the Elite level teams just yet

There are some rumblings on the other site that Dolson was seen earlier this week getting one extra scoop of Ice Cream at Jiffy Treat.

We have our guy.

That is a sure tell I bet you are a excellent poker player.

I don't see a new coach announcement before the season ends. I really don't think Brad Stevens would approve of that while the team is in season.

I don’t see why the university couldn’t make an announcement something like “ we have hired coach X effective at the conclusion of the current season whenever that occurs. Hopefully, after a long run to the NCAA championship.” There are advantages to IU and the new coach in making the announcement asap. And certainly would close the door to Woodson IU career. Then again, can see them wait until the season is officially complete.

Interesting AI pull for the most successful men's D2 basketball coaches ever:

Ben McCollum
Led Northwest Missouri State to four national championships, including three in a row in 2021, 2022, and 2023. McCollum is also a NABC Coach of the Year award winner.

Arad McCutchan
Coached Evansville to multiple NCAA DII titles, including back-to-back titles in 1964 and 1965.

Jim Crutchfield
Has won 86.4% of his games, the highest winning percentage of any coach with at least 10 seasons of experience at any level in NCAA history.

Larry Gipson, who won NABC Coach of the Year in 1982–83 and 2002–03

Ray Harper, who won NABC Coach of the Year in 1998–99, 2000–01, and 2007–08

_________________________________________________________________________________________

So the question is - how did McCutchan, Crutchfield, Gipson, and Harper do as high-major D1 coaches?

Harper is the most successful-- four championships and a crazy winning percentage:

Statistics overview

2003–04 Kentucky Wesleyan 22–8* 14–6* 3rd* NCAA Division II first round*
2004–05 Kentucky Wesleyan 15–13 9–11 6th
Kentucky Wesleyan: 247–46* (.843) 146–34* (.811)
Oklahoma City Stars (Sooner Athletic Conference) (2005–2008)

2007–08 Oklahoma City 31–7 18–4 1st NAIA Division I champions
Oklahoma City NAIA: 95–17 (.848) 51–7 (.879)

But as Division 1 head coach (including through this year)? Harper made the NCAA tourney at WKU his first two years, and since then has been "just okay."
