Interesting, maybe it puts Mason Miller back in play if he likes our new coach.

Is McDermott getting fired?

McDermont is in trouble for comments not much different than Beilien. Thus, I don’t get all the Beilein hype.

Scoring was way up the 80s simply because no one cares to play defense. Then it flip flopped in the 90s. The early 2000s was its own deal. Teams are starting to score more without a doubt and guys are more talented and skilled than ever before. Offenses are also allowed to have space and freedom and not just be grabbed because defenders suck at defending.

Correct. It ebbs and flows and styles come and go. Speed itself is not a "style." It's what you do while you have the ball that defines a style. In the current NBA, what they do with the ball is move, pass, and look for an open jumper, hopefully a 3, and yes it tends to be fast. But it's not "fastest team wins."

Rabby saying that Creighton job could open today and go after Moser.

That would be a better fit.  He is a good coach and his teams are fun to watch.  I'm just not sure if it works without that underdog mindset his guys have.

I am starting to realize if I continue to try to keep up to date on this thread 100% I am going to get fired from my job.

yes it is quite the deal.  I am a high school teacher.  I have had this thread open all day. This afternoon during my prep a student came to get some help from me.  While I was helping them my computer kept dinging from new replies in this thread.  The student even commented that my computer was sure making a lot of noise, lol.  And all the while I am helping this student I am wondering if there is some type of news in this coaching search.  The struggle is real.

People are just stupid but it's the flavor of the decade. Beilein would be a good hire. Just not sure we can afford the name brand walkers and velcro shoes.

Yes, but the first time he went to the final 4 and the second is the sweet 16 and still playing.  Better than most of these 1 and done guys, including the Big 10 coaches.

Hard, hard PASS.....we're really looking at mid major coaches again????

Looks like they are looking at a 62 year old that has never recruited or coached in college, a 68 year old who has been out of college for a couple of years so yeah IU is looking at mid major coaches.   What  has IU done in the past 20 years that puts them above looking at mid major coaches?

I am getting the feeling that it will be a complete grand slam or an absolute strike out.  Little chance of anything in between.

IU making a homerun hire would surprise more than IU hiring this guy

Look, I get it.  He's not my first choice.  He's local to me and Cam is from my hometown as well -- a year older than my kid, so they played with/against each other growing up.  (So that's my bias)

But realistically, do we have a chance at the top two coaches -- Oats and Muss and/or maybe Drew?  Seriously, when you really sit and look at it honestly.  Sure we can offer a bunch of money, but so can their current schools.  They have pretty good gigs right now, and can parlay IU interest into a raise and extension.  Maybe if they weren't the hottest thing going right now and suffering a down year, but they all coach one of the final 16 teams and are high seeds to boot.  Maybe it works out and Scott pulls that rabbit out of a hat.  But realistically, we better start getting comfortable with the best of the rest.  Sorry to pee on everyone's Cheerios.
