Dusty signed his extension over a month ago. You’re telling me a B10 athletic director and a B10 administration thought they had a coach locked up on a verbal agreement for over a month? No deadline to sign? Didn’t bother to follow up at all until the absolute end of the season?

Most of the time if a coach doesn't get pursued, it's because he was not interested. Backchannel conversations are happening all the time. This is why Dolson hired a search firm. If we didn't pursue Otz or Drew, there's probably a simple explanation: they didn't want the job. As far as May, I believe there was some mutual interest, but not enough on May's part to pull him away.

You're making an awful lot of assumptions about what happened. Do you really think Dolson sat on his hands for two months, watched WVU get snubbed in the tourney, and started making calls Sunday night??

IU wasn’t hiring anybody in the middle of the season. That was obvious. Yes I figured once the regular season concluded actual talks and face to face meeting with coaches would start taking place.

Dolson about to pull a sitting head coach from a power 5 conference they 2 high major fan bases are extremely sad about today.  Well done Dolson.   Didn’t think IU could pull a sitting high major coach I thought it would be a mid major level coach.    Props to Dolson if true

I will watch how this goes with Devries but it's got an Archie feel to it. I'm bummed where the program has gotten. Our chance to hire a big time coach, and we didn't, was when we hired KS. What happened after that has led to IU not being a serious basketball school anymore. We will have to see if Devries can win enough to show we are serious, but on the surface, this hire does nothing for me with respect to feeling good about the state of IU basketball.
