Much more interesting to talk about young emerging coaches than 24/7 prayer circle for the white whale

If someone is praying for anyone as our next coach, they have bigger issues than who the next coach is.

Speaking of "young emerging coaches", how did AM work out?

Got a chance to watch the video interivew with Dakich and McCullom interview.  Good stuff.  Dakich said at one point that McCullom reminded him of Brad Stevens.

The bad news.......it is coming from Dakich :)

Rabby on peegs chat: Just received a couple texts: "It's done." Neither person claimed to know who, but they both said "It's done." If that's true, then it's gonna get real interesting real fast around here. Heavy on the "If that's true."

Let’s go!!! Big time. Tons of excitement coming g

& that Dolson is in scramble mode, or considerably down the list…

I wouldn’t go that far but it means that posts of  done deals, we got our guy that have been posted for weeks/months etc wasnt true.
Maybe we land a good one but it seems that whoever we get was a recent thing or will be a recent thing

Mismanaging the basketball program for 25 years would definitely suggest IU will ignore Beard/Wade/Golden.

Indiana is a better job than Florida and it’s IU‘s job to make that clear. If IU can’t make the case to someone qualified then again, that’s just incompetence.

You can have mid NIL and salary and play in a FedEx warehouse or you can have top level NIL and salary and play in a limestone cathedral.

It is public knowledge that IU has top shelf money for both coaches and players, that we have a great arena and there is prestige (though fading) to the job. IU needs to do better at hiring basketball coaches. It’s literally their job and it will be their fault (not the fans’) if they hire another dud.

Not one bit of this is correct in the slightest.

Or it could be that people on the outer reaches of the inner circle are only now getting confirmation that everything is finalized.

Or it could be that some insiders or some people who get updates from insiders sometimes get a little excited and suggest more has been agreed to/finalized/etc. then really is at the time.

Other than a giant bag of money compared to UF bball (for now), what makes IU currently a better program?

Just that. That’s the world we live in. UF has about no shot to lure away a player from IU that IU wants to keep. IU could pull one off UF. Just like we did to Arizona. And Wash St and Stanford. And Illinois.  Or Duke did to national runner up Purdue.

Just the money. That’s all that matters. To the coaches who haven’t figured it out yet, they will. If they’re having trouble they can pick up the phone and ask Jay Wright or Tony Bennett. Or Matt Painter. Yesterday’s success won’t keep your kids around. Just the money.

Hell even the SEC football teams are learning the lesson after back to back B1G titles with some expensive UM and OSU teams. If IU doesn’t screw this hire up they’re sitting in a similar spot with their current spending levels on basketball.

No, once you’re a poor coach you kick puppies and punch babies.

No one will ever convince me Woody didn’t think he could do well here and be a good coach. I’ll go ahead and assume his intentions were pure. Unfortunately, reality is a cruel mistress.

The problem with wanting to do it is that it requires effort. Woodson had to be told to go watch Mullins in a sectional game. Woodson wanted the job, but had no interest in doing the job. You will never convince me otherwise. He was all in to coaching by osmosis.
