  1. People were mad he was in FL instead of at the IN state championships. They got real quiet when he brought back Malik Reneau.

  2. I’ve watched him play many times. There was one thing that jumped out each time I watched him. He goes after…EVERY…missed shot. I’m not sold on him starting in the Big 10 in year one, but I’m sold on him fighting every day in practice to prove he belongs…and I bet he works his a** off to make it hard for the coaching staff to leave him rotting away on the bench. I watched what turned out to be his final game as a Cardinal in Worthen Arena. He had just been brought back from sitting out a game due to an injury to his wrist. With his wrist taped up, he was still relentless on the glass and led all scorers for BSU with 20-something. This wasn’t an atypical game for him. In that same game, he turned his ankle towards the end of the game and he was clearly hurting. He was limping and hobbling up and down the floor, but he was still successfully going after everything that bounced off the board or rim. He was clearly frustrated each time Lewis pulled him, but Lewis didn’t keep him out long…he knew he had to keep plugging him back in despite the bum ankle and wrist. He’s a workhorse. He’s not a tall center, but a mighty one. I hate seeing him leave Lewis and BSU, but I’m glad he’s a Hoosier. He wants a bigger challenge, and he’ll get it. We’ll see how the Big10 treats him, but he was very good in the MAC. As for the kid’s character, I’ve spoken with him a couple times. He didn’t know me from Adam, but he was respectful, humble, and kind. I think he’ll be another strong-character type Hoosier Nation will find easy to root for. There’s also something exciting about watching a kid wear candy stripes who dreamed of playing in Bloomington. Lastly, Woodson may not be guaranteeing him playing time, but I would bet Sparks is willing and able to earn some…and to make the best of what time he gets. He’s a very capable passer, he’s passionate about rebounding, he has a knack for finding ways to score, he’s a tough player to guard, and he is an above-average interior defender. We’ll see how his game translates to the Big10 and Woodson’s offense, but I think it’s a good pickup and he should find some quality playing time.

  3. It really is amazing how all the crazies seem to come out once the season ends. Not sure if it's the realization of the season ending and wondering what could have been, or knowing it'll be 7 months before we get basketball again, but the lengths some people go to convince themselves the program is failing, falling apart or getting lapped by the Joneses are really pretty astounding.

  6. I didn't see any insider info saying he had committed or was even about to. I did see plenty saying he's quite interested in IU. It's not the fault of the people sharing info if you interpret it incorrectly.

Because there people who still think his crap is still relevant and funny. Much the same as Dickie V. I hate that stuff. I want to hear a knowledgeable, competent analyst who can explain what teams are trying to do.

I really don't think comparisons are necessary. Yogi wasn't I Thomas and didn't have to be. Cupps isn't going to be Yogi. Guess what, that's fine. He's going to be, in my opinion, a pretty damn good point guard who's going to do whatever the coaches ask of him. I think he is undervalued, but what do I know.

What a wild take this is lol. Imagine thinking the guy who teaches US History during school hours or is an insurance agent for his day job is running more sophisticated sets with 15-18 year olds vs incredibly well respected basketball minds at the absolute top of their field working with the top 1% of basketball players. This takes the cake. No offense intended to HS basketball coaches with this post, they have to make a living somehow

  12. About a year ago at this time, there was a lot of hand-wringing about Woodson going on vacation and golfing instead of recruiting. Probably the same people propagating the same stuff because recruits aren't coming in fast enough for them.

  14. I'm ok with Battle instead of Ledlum. Battle has better shooting percentages and did it against B1G level competition instead of Ivy League. So Battle is a known element while Ledlum is more of an unknown on how he'd do in the B1G.

  17. FWIW he will be up and walking a few hours after surgery and discharged within a day or two if it’s a routine TKR. Most have significant improvement in mobility and quality of life after as well. Wouldn’t expect a significant disruption to zoom calls or travel, if anything he will be able to golf even MORE and maybe still fit in some in-home trips too [emoji6] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  23. FWIW, it looks like On3 is using some type of algorithm to make this predictions -- something called 'spiny.AI' that uses a combination of human prediction and data to make their predictions. I don't know how accurate it is -- I know that their overall prediction has been pretty good but I don't know how long they've been using this program. So I would not take the above tweet as a commitment. As a means of interest, this is the other predictions they have on other IU targets: Caleb Love: 53% Missouri, 47% Indiana Kel'el Ware: Memphis 31%, Arkansas 27%, Auburn 23%, Texas 19% Graham Ike: Colorado 98%, Providence 2% Nick Timberlake: no prediction yet Jamison Battle: IU 100% Keshon Gilbert: no prediction yet Dalton Knecht: no predcition yet Chris Ledlum: no prediction yet Kadin Shedrick: no prediction yet Joe Girard: no prediction yet Kawacie Reeves: Boston College 100% AJ Storr: no prediction yet Quincy Olivari: no prediction yet Jace Carter: no prediction yet Puff Johnson: no prediction yet So while it's not a commitment, it should be noted that a 100% prediction for them is rare. Only 7 of the top 150 players (not included players who have already committed) are currently given a 100% prediction.

I have a ton of respect for high school coaches, as I'm sure everyone here does. They give their blood, sweat and tears to the game and the develop of kids for very little in return in terms of money. With that said, this take that average high school coaches are better than NBA coaches is one of the most ludicrous takes I've ever read in something like 15 years of posting on these various message boards.

I watch a ton of NBA, and have my entire life, also worked for an NBA team for 5 years. The idea that even the best Indiana HS coaches are as good as NBA coaches with X's and O's is ludicrous.

  29. UConn might be nuveau rich, but at this point IU would get on the ground to pick up the change falling out of their pockets. IU doesn’t even belong in the discussion with those other programs.

  41. Probably but for this year of college basketball those underrated kids for San Diego St that were on the back pages of a recruiting list that 90% of the people on here never viewed because they were not on the first 3 pages of the rankings list are the ones playing for a national championship.

Sure there are always exceptions and guys at each level that stand out, but generally speaking NBA coaches are way more sophisticated in terms of X's and O's. Much better with ATO's and especially defensively.
