Good to see that you got your recommended daily allowance of doom and negativity with your coffee this morning.

I call them like I see them. Rabjohns doesn’t speak for the team, but with Carr running things, Rabjohns speaks for the team again, as he once did.

Holding the spots to fill later doesn’t bother me.  But his statement did.  It’s not the way to roster build.  I certain a room of basketball minds can figure this out.  Unless we are truly out of money.  In which case, we did what we could, and I’ll live.

Man you and I have butted heads before but it boggles my mind how people talk about you being doom And gloom when you continually have been right about what this team is capable of.

I drank the koolaid last year even and I’ve always been called negative

Bring back Tucker, Wilkerson, and Alexis to fill out the roster. I’ll take it.

Except then you have a bigger issue of all those seniors arguing they should have been allowed to go into the transfer portal.

In the end, nothing is going to happen in this offseason that would allow for last year's seniors to get an additional year.

Unless this rule changed in the past couple years, teams can't start their first full team pre-season practices until 42 days before their first regular season game. That equates to late September.

In the summer, there's 8 weeks of practice. Maximum of 8 hours of activities per week, skill instruction is limited to 4 hours per week, so half the time is spent on conditioning and the mental aspect of things.

I highly doubt the staff that just signed 6 players in a week with numerous apparent back up options having scheduled visits are not on top of the ball. Carr seems to have a clear understanding of how to navigate the market... content to see what he does without an arbitrary time factor imposed on him. Especially if you're someone who wants to add a Euro guy... they will not, for the most part, be available until mid-summer. So it does make some sense to not fill everything asap IMO.

The portal closes next Tuesday, meaning no new players will be able to enter after. Last year there was a late rush to the portal of talented players. You can still sign guys after the portal closes, so that's the time we could look for good value or "bargain bin" as some say... (a break the glass in case of emergency senior PG would make sense here IMO). For all we know right now, the staff could be trying to coax a 3rd big into the portal or working on a Euro connection or something else.

Good points I did not consider.  Seems strange to me that the NIL is like the Wild West but the time of practice is so heavily regulated..I do think the staff with all the years of experience aboard should be on top of this.  This is the year we need to spend the most and then taper off after balancing the roster out.

If they pass the exemption keep Wilkerson with the team and find some friendly judge to take a case on his docket

Yes so would I, but it sounds like we’re done for now Rabby said.

A couple of notes:

This is what Rabjohns initially tweeted:

"The heart of the Indiana basketball roster is set.   IU has added six from the transfer portal -- all with P4 experience -- and IU believes in Trent Sisley and its freshman -- Prince Alexander Moody, Vaughn Karvala, and Trevor Manhertz."

But then a few minutes later, he tweeted (I put in bold the Big change):

"IU sees high level guard play, athletic wings and high-level shot making from all three freshman.  Post depth will remain under consideration from the transfer portal, but the heart of IU's 2026-27 basketball roster is set".

I'm sure the change is either because he was told by IU to make that correction or because Rabjohns felt the original tweet made it sound like post depth wasn't going to be addressed when it was in reality going to be.

Understood, but “under consideration” doesn’t work….just get them signed and be done!!!!

Probably bad choice of words by Rab

I think Wilkerson, Enright & Alexis would be perferct for the remaining 3 openings. Pipe-dream, but wow.

Seems to me people are getting a little anxious over some poor stylistic choices in Rabby's writing lol. IMO "The heart of the Indiana basketball roster is set" is not supposed to be insight. Reads more like a fluffy lede to me.

The follow up tweet just reinforcing that the freshmen don't add post depth so the portal will "remain under consideration" as in we'll continue evaluating options, including possibly Euros.

I don't see Ryan Carr adding dead weight like Ristic or Andrej to the roster.

Doubt they're taking a break for milk and cookies.

We’d probably be better off if everyone just realized Rabjohns isn’t very precise with his language and not spiral due to unintentional (or intentional at times I suppose) ambiguities
