My point was more to the "why would I go there ... they fired the last X coaches after only Y years"... there's A LOT more to the story than just the length of the coach's tenure... But yeah, maybe (probably) there is an "institutional" component to this... Indiana has hired based on a somewhat knee-jerk response... flavor of the month - call it what you will... fair enough. I think you are correct in terms of over 30 years there is plenty of blame to go around. This year there is plenty of blame to go around. players, CMW, staff, et al. President Whitten seems to have a rededication to athletics. At least early on, not sure lately as I dont follow that nor in the know. Scott Dolson, has seemed to do a fair job, but the next bball coach has his job at stake.

sweetpain Posted February 22, 2024 Posted February 22, 2024 I just never understood why coaches contracts don't have a YOU SUCK waiver. It could say if your record gets below a certain level your buyout is waived, or reduced. The contracts are AD department give are inconceivably bad with no escapes. He was a Michigan City Rogers player, Delray Brooks' roommate at IU, and a four year IUBB manager under RMK. Scott Dolson was sitting courtside last night, as he did for the Penn State game. He heard every boo and he took careful mental notes, even more than the average fan, of the level of disconnection. And as much sh!t as he's taking, Quinn Buckner also lives and breathes IU basketball, and loves it deeply. Yes, he was likely one of the principal drivers that led to Woody being hired, but that doesn't mean he loves watching his friend get destroyed while derailing his beloved IU program. I don’t doubt their loyalty, only their competence. Honestly, the taking a big swing at Stevens, missing, and scrambling to fill a spot with a respected older alum to bridge the gap is defensible in many respects. Personally, I never imagined he was this bad with fundamentals or Xs and Os, And I’m sure they didn’t either. I do have a big problem with the raise last year. That is disqualifying incompetence. This isn’t hindsight 20/20, either. Go back to the tourney selection thread, where I correctly predicted we would easily beat the first opponent and likely get thumped by Miami. Those weren’t guesses. It was an assessment of our very real fundamental issues last year that could—and routinely were—exploited by particular type teams with no adjustment or improvement by the staff. If dummy fans like me (and many others) can see, so should they. The job last year was in no way deserving of praise past “met expectations.” That they apparently felt otherwise is a big red flag. thebigweave, go iu bb, HoosierTrav and 3 others 6

mamasa Posted February 22, 2024 Posted February 22, 2024 I just got so excited! We had a visitor at work who knows my IU fandom (he's not a sports guy), asked me what was going on at Assembly Hall, said there were a bunch of trucks and news stations. I honestly thought that Woody was cleaning out his office, but then realized it's all for the women's game tonight lol cybergates, Rico, 8bucks and 4 others 3 4
Popular Post IUc2016 Posted February 22, 2024 Popular Post Posted February 22, 2024 Woody was fired from the knicks after three seasons when he made the playoffs the first two seasons. He made a late run and lost in the first round in year one. He finished second in conference and made it to the second round in year two. Then the wheels completely fell off in year three when he had more control over the roster and playing time. He was let go. Hoping this is exactly how it plays out here soon. taco corp, thebigweave, Trish and 9 others 12

We need to be hoping they lose out. That will force a chance 90%, perhaps even a 100% chance if that happens. AD's have to make a move ASAP with the transfer portal these days. It's a shorter window for the portal this year compared to years prior as well. IUc2016, Hoosierfan2017, OldBuddy67 and 1 other 4
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted February 22, 2024 Posted February 22, 2024 From The Daily Hoosier - It's cherry picking the numbers a bit, but Indiana has more home losses by 14 or more points this season (3) than they had in their 6-25 first year Crean rebuild season in 08-09.
