  1. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/indiana-rb-kaelon-black-spent-last-night-in-ohare Bengals must really like Kaelon if they are sending him an Uber from Chicago to Cincinnati.
  2. Man...Baked got me through several long Bloomington nights. That place was incredible.
  3. Just to note, we actually have 5 roster spots available. No way in hell we use them all, but the ncaa expanded from 13 to 15 scholarships last year. Still hope we use 2-3 more though
  4. True, but generally speaking, we all know starters usually get most PT outside of foul trouble or injury. He probably wants some sort of vision /guarantee of a larger role. Thats fine, but I'm just speculating that would not be the case at IU. I do like him as a player, though the fit with Sherrell might not be seamless.
  5. If Reibe left UConn dissatisfied with PT, no way in hell he takes a diminished role here. Cash is king, but PT is right up there chasing it in terms of importance.
  6. Great, now I'm at the point where if we don't land Burton and Sherrell, this place is gonna burn. At least the offseason is fun, more than I can say about the regular season.
  7. Getting Burton signed soon would ease some minds.
  8. No in-person contact or campus visits. Calls and texts still allowed
  9. Yep, NFL and other pro leagues have age requirements because they have collective bargaining agreements between the teams and the players union. They are employees. NFL established theirs based on maturity and safety. High school is a required step in education, so its athletic endeavors are governed by the state. Universities are independent institutions (even though public onea receive state and federal funding). Even then, high school athletes aren't being restricted from income potential through age laws the way this proposal would affect college athletes.
  10. Restricting the ability to earn income without a collective bargaining agreement violates antitrust labor laws. Colleges do not have age limits for academic enrollment, so students are still held to the standard of normal college students. Can't put any restrictions on athletes that you don't put on general student population. Only way out would be to establish athletes as university employees, which the universities themselves do not want.
  11. Agree completely. High ranked kid that just didn't pan out. Would be nice as a 10-15 minute off the bench 2. I know Burton and Brumbaugh are listed as pgs (and both are starter quality), but Devries system would benefit from multiple primary handlers on the floor.
  12. Anything age related would be struck down immediately. A 5 year "clock" based on 1st year listed on collegiate roster would be more likely to stand, imo.
  13. Not super excited about Harris, but if he is strictly a backup guard I suppose it makes sense. We need probably 3 portal guards anyway. Burton, Brumbaugh, and Harris would be decent
  14. I agree that based on their additions, their (Louisville) fans have a right to be upset with a first weekend exit, yes. BUT it turns our their roster construction had its own issues (streaky shooting + offense stalled completely when 3s didn't fall, weak rebounding + interior defense). And yes I believe making the tournament is the bare minimum but we should strive for more. Roster construction was poor, I have guarded optimism that this year it can be better. I will say that spending top 10-15 money is nice but doesn't guarantee jack ****. Spend wisely and get guys that fit together in your system.
  15. Player development and retention will be key moving forward. You mention Michigan and Louisville specifically, 2 universities we can reasonably assume have a similar budget as us. Last year, Louisville brought on only 3 new portal players. Michigan brought 4. We all know by now spending in free agency is going to cost more than retention. Last year, adding 10 portal players we weren't able to add as much value per player. Doesn't help that our scouting was a huge strikeout while Michigan hit on all 4 of their players (getting players that complement each others' skill sets very well). We look to bring in maybe 7 this year? So still maybe not as much value per player, but better than last year and scouting and "fit" has to be better. And while our season was much more of a disaster, Louisville was also a disappointment. For a school that spends, they expected to be in the championship mix with Conwell, Wooley, McKneely, and talented freshmen.
  16. Guys...I'm a planner. Always have been, always will be. I just need you all to come to a consensus whether I should go ahead and book championship parade tickets for next April, or proceed with burning all my IUBB gear in the courtyard of my apartment, stumbling naked screaming obscenities into the unforgiving Indiana wind about Luke Jimenez and Jeff Oliphant. Any help is appreciated thx
  17. Haven't seen much of Estrella, would he be able to coexist with Fru? Or are their skill sets too overlapping?
  18. Oh I agree. I dont think he jumps this year unless a perfect opportunity arises.
  19. Why do some people want to leave jobs at (very good) community hospitals to go to top academic medical centers? Why would someone move from financial planning into venture capital? Sometimes money, sometimes prestige or lifestyle. Some dudes are just wired to chase the highest level
  20. I'm sure he will, but he can afford to be picky and wait. For example, I highly doubt he would take the Wizards or Kings jobs. Bulls maybe but they just announced Billy D can stay as long as he wants. Orlando could be very intriguing if they move on. Edit: 76ers could move on from Nurse. Would be a good gig but Morey is a snake and I wouldn't want to be around that
  21. As Ashaman said above, rumors are that he has pro aspirations. This coming from Michigan sources. And now he could attempt to be only the 2nd coach to win a NCAA and NBA basketball championship. Rarefied air
  22. Rick Carlisle probably only has a few years left in his career. We can hope
  23. Take solace in the fact that Dusty most likely will be an NBA coach within 5 years
