I’m an old dude that was a freshman during the undefeated ‘75-76 season. We had a ton of great games and “expected” big wins.

These kids, however,  have endured 2/3/4 years of completely soulless “Archie Ball”. They have literally gone through a nuclear winter of IU basketball. I’m very glad they are having a great time. Storm the court if you want, party and miss class tomorrow. Have fun!!!!!

Rob deserves all the props

But other guys off the bench were huge, played really, really well tonight even if the box doesn’t show it

Galloway - 0 TO’s, box shows 1 steal but he was involved in more than 1, got under PU’s skin (made me think of Sheehey), and his energy was such a spark

Geronimo was a force on D, had 1 miscue but otherwise was a key factor esoecially in the first half turnaround 

Durr gets all kinds of grief but honestly we probably lose without him tonight, and while his form is kinda funky, he was dependable from the stripe in s tense game

My only complaint was going straight back to the starters to begin the 2d after our bench - and particularly the guard play, had PU on its heels. That was just a bad decision

All matchup snafu's aside, speaks to the trust Woodson has in Galloway putting him on Ivey in the dire moments.

X/Phin is an interesting combo in stretches, really showed they can defend on the perimeter despite possible height issues and always smart/pesky weakside post defense. Obviously, they got it done tonight on the offensive end and TAKE CARE OF THE BALL (O T/O: 4 steals)

Truly a team win with TJD all but out- showed there are other parts of this team that were effective and could be potentially consistent. Potentially :)

To me the biggest thing is that the TEAM was totally behind Phin getting that last shot. Win lose or draw, WE the team want Rob to do this. THAT is a team! You go, we go!

From Dustin Dopirak:  Woodson says Phinisee told him to give him the ball. Said they had a new out of bounds play that worked out.

Durr was really good, better than I've seen him play yet.

Galloway and Rob may not start but they need to see heavy minutes down the stretch like tonight.

My wife is a Purdue fan (her father went there)…she says she’s okay…but I’m on the couch. I can’t confirm or deny her statements validity

Yeah, you give it to him at that point, imo. I know it worked out and all but really- Phin was in the right head space to drill that shot. Bumbled the first it looked like, wanted it (clean) again.

That was a fantastic game.  I bailed on going, because oh lord I didn't have faith, and I apologize.  Kid got there around 3.  Phin redeemed himself and we all knew deep down that was the player he could be.  The young kids played their arse off.  Who needs TJD?  Ok, we do.  But it's nice to see the next man step up and the team get er done.  Who's next -- pisshigan.

We need to stop acting like we're too good to storm the court against Purdue. If this was 1995, I might agree. It's 2022. We just went nearly 6 years without beating them, and their results in that time put ours to shame. 

 

Hopefully this is the start of that trend getting corrected, but we've sucked for far too long to still be looking down our noses at anybody.
