Driving back to the airport, they locate a large hammer in a cratered field with a crimson trident symbol on it. Dozens of college coaches are attempting to lift it but none can. BS tries and succeeds because he alone is worthy to possess the power of Knight. But suddenly, black SUVs arrive with men in sunglasses claiming to be agents of a secret agency—SHIELD OF 68. BS is spirited away in a SUV and then later has a press conference where he seeming to be under duress reads a prepared statement saying that he’s not iron man—-I mean, not a candidate for the IU position. Only one reporter named Goodman is invited to the press conference. He reports this. Later someone who looks like BS is seen at the all-star game eating popcorn and hanging out with Samuel L. Jackson, who is wearing a Boiler-up eye patch. Close, it was actually a chair not a hammer. P92 and Dave from Dayton 2

As of now the plan is to have brad sign the contract on March 2nd. He wants to essentially finish his season as a GM with the Celtics which mainly ends in March 1st as a GM. The verbal agreement still stands but he does not want any announcement until after that point. So the signing Monday won't occur but this is all but locked down. Contract is 6 years 67 million and brad has an option to extend to 10 years after year 3. Includes promises towards IU funded NIL and assistant pools but I don't know the value behinds those numbers. Just be patient. Hate me because of Goodman's tweet but there is a reason for all this optimism and it's that Brad still is a verbal agreement with IU and both IU and Stevens camp agree to all contract terms. I'd love to be wrong but I don't buy this. Going from signing Monday so he can enjoy the All Star breaking to March 2 when there'd still be a little over a month of NBA season left. I don't buy the length of 6 years either. He could sign and nothing be announced yet. IF that were true changing date sounds like dragging it out to see who might buy the Celtics or let them counter. The NIL and assistant pool I could see, but are the only parts that pass the smell test to me. thebigweave, Iufan93, IU Faithful and 2 others 4 1
HoosierAccipiter Posted February 16, 2025 Posted February 16, 2025 (edited) At this point, whether the prognostications of BS come to fruition, or not. Whether IU rolls the dice on Beard. Whether they can pull May away after a year at Michigan. Whether they go with a grizzled veteran with a lowere-than-desired-ceiling or a hot up-and-comer… …this board have provided ample entertainment and WAY too much of a time suck. Just putting things into perspective. The University and its fans continue to hold onto this outdated perception of the programs value and status in the college basketball world. We have accomplished little to nothing over the last 30+ years….. so little that the only people who view us as a blueblood are Indiana fans and people like Dick Vitale…. The elitist attitude and moral superiority of the university and fans, is frustrating. It’s really wearing thin on me, honestly. So many of the fans refuse to extend grace to any coach with any known past transgressions. As if they are completely irredeemable…There are people on this site who still despise Kelvin Sampson and would adamantly say they wouldn’t want him. I’m not calling you out individually. I appreciate a lot of your posts and perspective on most things. Again…Just exhausted from people not extending any grace to anyone that’s not a saint. The way I see it, is that IU doesn’t have anything to lose. We are at the absolute rock bottom, when you consider our history and where we are now. We’ve won 5 titles, haven’t won one in nearly 40 years, and have no legitimate reasons to believe we will be able to compete for one in the next 2-5 years….. or beyond… unless this hire is absolutely nailed. If we hire a guy that’s is clearly below Beards level, than I personally don’t know that I’ll be able to give much more attention and support to the program. It will be officially dead to me. I’m sick of the false hope. I need to see action at this point. Respect to anyone who sees it differently. Fantastic post. I could not agree with you more. As a fan, I love this program and think it's special. But most folks outside of our fan circle don't view it that way anymore. And why would they? The last 30 years haven't been great. I could potentially buy waiting until March 2nd. But the contract details you added don't make sense. What would possibly be the benefit of a coach's option to extend? The coach would just want a fully guaranteed contract, with a miniscule buyout. I don't think I've ever heard of a coaching deal get structured that way. So this one doesn't pass the smell test.
